Myers, Puk Pick Up Multiple BGSU Women's Basketball Awards for 2017-18

Seniors Rachel Myers and Haley Puk each picked up a pair of awards as the Bowling Green State University women's basketball team bestowed honors for the 2017-18 season. The awards were handed out at a team meal on Wednesday afternoon (April 25).
Myers was named the team's Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and she also earned the Fran and Marty Voll Senior Achievement Award. Puk was the team's Impact Player of the Year, and took home the Les Disher Service Award.
Junior Carly Santoro was named the Falcons' Player of the Year, while classmate Sydney Lambert was the Playmaker of the Year. Sophomore Andrea Cecil was recognized as the team's Power Player of the Year, and freshman Terri Battle earned the Most Improved Player award.
Freshman Madisen Parker received the Falcon Award, which is given to the person or persons who embody qualities such as dedication, commitment, effort and being the ultimate team player.
Santoro earned Player-of-the-Year honors for the second-straight season, while Myers was selected as the team's Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second time in her BGSU tenure.
Lambert earned the Playmaker award for the third time in as many years as a Falcon, while Puk, the only BGSU player ever to win the Les Disher Service Award, took home that honor for the third consecutive year. Again this season, Puk single-handedly recorded one-third of the team's service hours for 2017-18.
Myers, a native of Findlay, Ohio (Liberty-Benton), was a 2017-18 team captain, and was named to the Academic All-MAC Team. She played in 19 games off the bench in her senior year, averaging 2.1 points and 0.6 rebounds per game. Myers shot an even 40 percent from three-point range, and was 12-of-13 (92.3%) at the free-throw line. She scored 631 career points in 108 games, an average of 5.8 points per contest, and finished her BGSU career ranked 15th in school history in career three-point field goals made, with 118.
Puk, a native of Waterloo, Iowa (Waterloo West), was also a 2017-18 team captain, and also was named to the Academic All-MAC Team. She started all 30 games in her senior campaign, and averaged 24.2 minutes, 8.4 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.0 steals per game. Puk was fourth on the team in scoring, and ranked third in both assists and steals. She shot 34.9% from three-point range, going 44-for-126 from the arc, and scored in double digits nine times. Puk was named to the All-Tournament Team as BGSU won the FAU Thanksgiving Tournament. She finished her career with a total of 689 points in 116 games as a Falcon, an average of 5.9 ppg, and also had 262 rebounds, 129 assists and 90 steals. Puk hit 121 career shots from the arc -- including a career-high 44 as a senior -- to rank 14th on the BGSU career list for three-pointers made.
Battle, who hails from Chicago, Ill. (Simeon), played in 19 games off the bench in her first season at BGSU, averaging 0.4 points, 1.2 rebounds and 0.3 blocked shots per game. She scored the first points of her BGSU career as the Falcons defeated Norfolk State in the FAU Thanksgiving Tournament, then had five rebounds and two steals the next day, as BG topped host FAU to win the tourney. Battle saw a season-high 14 minutes of action against Ball State, and matched career-best numbers in points, rebounds and blocks.
Cecil, a native of Oak Harbor, Ohio (Oak Harbor), was one of eight Falcons named to the Academic All-MAC Team. She played in all 30 games, making 24 starts, and averaged 8.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per outing. Cecil was third on the team in scoring and second in rebounding, and she finished 12th in the MAC in free-throw pct. The soph scored in double digits 12 times, including three games of 20 points or more. She was named MAC Player of the Week on Dec. 28 after averaging 21.0 ppg the prior week, including a 26-point, 10-board effort for her first collegiate double-double. Cecil had 16 points, including 11 in the first quarter, in the Falcons' MAC Tournament game at Western Michigan.
Lambert, from Cincinnati, Ohio (McAuley), was a team captain, and started all 30 of BGSU's games in '17-18. The point guard averaged 32.1 minutes, 9.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.5 steals per contest, leading the Orange and Brown in both assists and steals. She also paced the team in three-pointers made and attempted, and shot 30.2% from three-point range, making 60-of-199 long-distance shots. Lambert finished 10th in the MAC in minutes played per game, and tied for 10th in the conference in triples made per game. She scored in double digits 16 times, including two games of 20 or more points. Lambert has started all 89 of BGSU's games since her arrival on campus, and has 879 career points, an average of 9.9 ppg, in that time. She also has career totals of 325 rebounds, 186 assists, 109 steals and 187 three-point field goals made, and is ranked fourth in school history in the latter category.
Parker, a native of Fort Wayne, Ind. (Homestead), played in 26 games off the bench in her initial season as a Falcon. She averaged 1.5 points and 0.4 rebounds per contest. Parker scored five points as BGSU defeated the host school in the championship game of the FAU Thanksgiving Tournament, going 2-for-2 from the floor and converting a three-point play after FAU had tied the game in the fourth quarter. She scored six points on a pair of three-pointers at Cincinnati, and had seven points in 19 minutes vs. Ball State. Parker averaged 5.7 minutes per game in '17-18.
Santoro, from Bellevue, Ohio (Bellevue), was a 2017-18 team captain and was named to the Academic All-MAC Team. She started all 30 games, averaging 12.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.5 steals. Santoro led the team in scoring and rebounding, and was second in assists and steals. She scored in double figures 21 times, including three games of 20 points or more, and had 12 double-digit rebounding contests. Santoro had 11 double-doubles, the highest total by a Falcon in 20 years, and was named MAC Player of the Week twice on the year. She ended the 2017-18 season with career totals of 874 points and 538 rebounds.
