Fralick to Speak at USA Basketball Philadelphia Coach Academy This Weekend
May 29, 2018 | Women's Basketball
New BGSU head coach is also scheduled to be a featured speaker for the organization's Cleveland event in August
Bowling Green State University women's basketball coach Robyn Fralick will be a featured speaker at the USA Basketball Coach Academy this weekend. Fralick will take part in the two-day event on Saturday and Sunday (June 2-3) in Philadelphia, Pa.
This weekend's academy is part of USA Basketball's series of events which attract coaches from all levels for seminars, discussion and basketball drill instruction. The list of featured speakers includes representatives from the high school, college and professional levels.
Fralick will also be speaking at the USA Basketball Cleveland Coach Academy later this summer (Aug. 25-26).
The USA Basketball Coach Academy - presented by Nike - is designed to provide coaches with valuable insight and education on how to teach the game of basketball to young people, as well as how to implement fun, safe and feasible programming throughout various organizations (i.e. schools, recreation centers, clubs and leagues). The coach academy is presented in a multi–day format with presentations led by USA Basketball staff and guest speakers in coaching and leadership positions. In addition, attendees experience networking opportunities to meet and socialize with one another as well as with speakers.
Coaches learn the USA Basketball curriculum to impart a proper skill development path while teaching the game to players of all ages and ability levels. Additionally, guest speakers will focus on areas of expertise and deliver sessions on best practices among coaches and administrators both on and off the court. Attendees will leave the coach academy with the ability to obtain a USA Basketball Coach License.
Sessions at the USA Basketball Coach Academy feature a variety of styles of teaching including: player demonstrations, lectures, panel discussions, on court basketball instruction and off court coaching techniques and life skills training. During breakouts, coaches have a choice of sessions to attend based on which topics most interest them and best suit their program or team needs. All options will offer comprehensive education, taught either on or off the court.
Fralick was hired at BGSU in early April, after leading Ashland University to a 104-3 record, a national title and a national runner-up finish over the last three years. Fralick and each of her two new assistants, Kim Cameron and Karmen Graham, all coached programs that advanced to a national postseason tournament in the 2017-18 season.
