Bowling Green Hosts Invitational Tournament to begin 2018-19 Campaign

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University tennis program opens the 2018-19 season this weekend, as it hosts the BGSU Invitational from Friday, Sept. 14 through Saturday, Sept. 15. Taking part in the BGSU Invitational will be the Toledo Rockets, the Detroit Titans, the Tiffin Dragons, and the Ashland Eagles. Matches will begin at 9 a.m. on both days, but will run until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, and 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. All matches will take place at Keefe Courts on BGSU's campus.

The Falcons earned three titles in last year's BGSU Invitational. Returning senior Paula Comella clinched the Orange Draw Title after defeating Kenyon's Diana Aboubakare in straight sets, 6-2, 7-6 in the flight one singles finals.
Senior Polina Radeva downed a pair of Toledo opponents to win the Brown Draw Title of singles two. Radeva defeated Colleen O'Brien in semi-final action 6-4, 6-2, and then went on to blank Sidney Huck 6-4, 6-4 in the finals to claim the title.
Comella teamed up with current sophomore Marta Bettinelli in doubles actions to earn the flight one title over Toledo pair Mimi Kendall-Woseley and Dee Dee Leenabanchong with a mark of 6-3.
