FIRST-HALF HIGHLIGHTS
• 2' | Freshman Mackenzie Reuber hit a right-side cross into the six-yard box. YSU starting goalkeeper Kate McEachern tipped the ball away, but into the path of senior Marissa Swindell. Swindell's shot, however, was wide right.
• 3' | Junior Chelsee Washington put senior Erica Hubert through, but Hubert's shot from the left side was blocked.
• 7' | Hubert cross the ball into the area from the left side. Washington met it and hit a sweet one-time volley, but a YSU defender was in the right place at the right time to block the shot, and it went out of play for the first of BGSU's 13 corner kicks.
• 8 ' | Off of that Hubert corner, redshirt sophomore Nikki Cox headed the ball on target, but McEachern was there to make the save.
• 14' | Junior Maureen Kennedy played a ball ahead to Hubert, who cut back and hit a shot, but that effort was blocked.
• 19' | After a YSU foul, Kennedy's free kick was on target, but McEachern made a diving save. Just over a minute later, however, the Falcons were on the board.
• 20' | GOAL | The Penguins were whistled for another foul, and Washington took the ensuing free kick. The junior hit a hard, low shot that found the left corner of the net, just inside the post, and the Falcons had the lead.
• 24' | GOAL | Kennedy took a free kick on the left side of the pitch, near the corner of the18-yard box. She hit a ball into the box, where Washington and a YSU defender were stationed. The low kick glanced off of the boot of a Penguin player, and Washington, from approximately eight yards out, redirected the ball into the right side of the net.
• 27' | After a BG corner kick was knocked out of the box, senior Jennifer Reyes played the ball to Reuber on the right side, and the freshman crossed it back in. Washington, in a bid for a first-half hat trick, got her head on the ball and put it on goal, but McEachern was in position to make the stop.
• 40' | With just under six minutes left in the half, senior Laura Bozzelli hit a hard shot from the top of the box. The shot was blocked and caromed toward the right side of the six-yard box, near the end line. Redshirt sophomore Rachel Muller quickly pounced on the rebound and, from a difficult angle, put a shot on frame that forced McEachern into an acrobatic, leaping save.
SECOND-HALF HIGHLIGHTS
• 50' | BG possessed the ball for the lion's share of the match, and Swindell and sophomore Nikhita Jacob combined to move the ball toward the left side of the field. Kennedy played a long ball forward for Hubert. Hubert headed into the box and hit a wicked volley, but the hard shot whizzed over the goal.
• 56' | GOAL | Washington knocked the ball toward the center of the pitch, and after the Penguins were unsuccessful in a bid to clear it, Hubert picked it up, took two touches and hit a turnaround blast from outside of the box. The shot found the upper half of the net, and the Falcons had a three-goal lead.
• 58' | Hubert saw her one-timer knocked away, and then after a Kennedy corner kick sailed toward the far side of a crowded penalty area, Washington hit a bullet, but YSU 'keeper Zeeyana Jivraj, who had drifted toward the ball while the corner kick was in flight, somehow was able to make a point-blank save.
• 60' | GOAL | Kennedy took a pass from Jacob and played a gorgeous left-to-right diagonal ball into the box. The ball cleared the YSU back line and landed on the boot of Swindell. The senior quickly sent the ball back the other way and into the lower-left-hand corner of the goal. Kennedy and Jacob picked up assists on the play.
• 62' | A pass by Jacob found an open Reyes in the penalty area, but the senior's blast hit the crossbar, and her rebound try sailed high.
• 69' | Freshman Sarah Allen made a long run past four or five would-be defenders, eventually winning a corner kick. BG had back-to-back corners, and on the second, freshman Lynsey Spotts outleaped numerous players to get a head on the ball, but her shot went over the bar.
• 74' | Allen's cross found Bozzelli in the box, and the senior hit a quick, off-balance shot that went just wide of the right post.
• 77' | GOAL | Hubert used her considerable speed to save a ball just before it went over the end line. She served it into the box, and Bozzelli tapped it to Muller on the right side of the box. Muller lofted a perfectly-placed shot over the YSU defense and just under the crossbar for a 5-0 BG lead.
• 79' | A hard shot off the boot of freshman Ruby Linton was saved.
• 82' | Bozzelli stole the ball on the right side of the YSU 18-yard box, and slid it toward Swindell in the center of the box. The ball eventually found its way to senior Elisa Baeron just outside the 18, but her hard shot went over the bar.
• 82' | GOAL | Less than a minute later, after the YSU goal kick, Swindell stole the ball and quickly got it to Hubert in the box. The senior striker beat Jivraj, who had no chance on the play, to cap the scoring.
