Maryland Overcomes Halftime Deficit To Beat Falcons

Jarret Doege opened the scoring with a three-yard touchdown pass to Scott Miller with 33 seconds left in the first quarter. After the Terrapins tied the contest late in the second quarter, Doege capped a five-play, 67-yard drive with a 29-yard pass to Quinton Morris for a 14-7 lead. Maryland narrowed the gap with a field goal on the final play of the half, then scored 35 unanswered points after halftime.
OFFENSIVE NOTES
- Jarret Doege completed 17 of 27 passes (.630) for 143 yards
- Doege threw two touchdown passes; he now has six consecutive games with multiple passing touchdowns
- Scott Miller caught three passes for 11 yards and a touchdown
- Miller has touchdown receptions in both 2018 games and in four of his last five overall
- Miller is 14 receptions and one touchdown catch away from BGSU's top ten career lists
- Quintin Morris led BGSU with five catches for 85 yards, setting career single-game bests for both
- Morris also caught his third career touchdown pass and first of 2018
- Bryson Denley and Dorian Hendrix each earned their first career reception
- Andrew Clair carried the ball 16 times for 44 yards, giving him 157 yards on 41 carries in 2018
- Justin Sawmiller was credited with his first career start
DEFENSIVE NOTES
- Brandon Harris registered a team-best 11 tackles, one shy of his career high (12 at EMU, Nov. 21, 2017)
- Kholbe Coleman set a new personal single-game high with seven tackles and has totaled 13 in two games
- Jerry McBride (6) and Roland Walder (5) tied their career highs in tackles
- Karl Brooks (5), Jordan Murphy (3) and Romeo Masuku (1) earned their first career tackles
- Clint Stephens (1.5), Harris (1.0) and Walder (0.5) posted tackles for loss
- Harris forced a fumble, the fifth of his career
- Kyle Junior recovered his first fumble of 2018 and second of his career
- BGSU allowed just 121 passing yards, their fewest since allowing 105 at Ohio last season
SPECIAL TEAMS NOTES
- Nate Needham was a perfect 2-for-2 on extra points and has made all six of his kicks in 2018 (5 XP, 1 FG)
- Needham boomed three kickoffs for an average of 58.5 yards
- Grant Tinnerman punted nine times for 354 yards; his 39.3 average is six yards better than last week
- Tinnerman earned his first 50-yard punt, and had one punt downed inside the 20
- Ra'veion Hargrove returned four kickoffs for 91 yards and a 22.8 average

- BGSU returns to action Saturday (Sept. 15) against Eastern Kentucky
