Turner, Perry Named Jet's Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Jet's Pizza Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are basketball players Justin Turner and Angela Perry.
Male Athlete of the Week
Justin Turner, a redshirt sophomore from Detroit, Mich., led Bowling Green to a 2-0 week by averaging 25.0 points, 4.5 assists, 2.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals. Turner shot 48.5 percent (17-of-35) from the field, including a 41.6 percent (5-of-12) clip from downtown, while going a perfect 11-for-11 from the charity stripe. Turner began the week with a 20-point game in a blowout victory versus Ohio (Jan. 8). In BGSU's overtime win at Central Michigan (Jan. 12), the Detroit native willed his team to a victory. He dropped 30 points, including 12-straight points in OT. Turner, who leads the league in scoring in MAC games (23.3 PPG), also had six assists in the contest.
Female Athlete of the Week
Angela Perry, a sophomore from Rochester, Ill., averaged 18.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game in the Falcons' two games last week. Perry shot 60.0 percent from the field and also had 1.5 blocked shots and 1.0 steals per game. She scored 13 points in just 19 minutes at Ball State, going a perfect 5-for-5 from the field and adding four rebounds, an assist, a steal and two blocked shots. Then, three days later, Perry had a game-high 24 points at Akron, just one point shy of her career best. She scored 20 points in the second half alone, including 12 in the fourth quarter. She also had a career-high nine rebounds, a career-high four assists, a block and a steal. Perry made 10 field goals in 33 minutes, setting career bests in both of those categories as well.Â
