Wright, Kennedy Named Jet's Athletes Of The Week
October 07, 2019 | General, Ice Hockey, Women's Soccer
Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Jet's Pizza Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. This week's winners are hockey player Cameron Wright and soccer player Maureen Kennedy.
Male Athlete of the Week
Cameron Wright, a junior from Newmarket, Ontario, tallied his first career hat trick en route to four goals in Bowling Green's win over in-state rival Miami University. He scored two goals, including one on the power play, in the second period to allow BGSU to take the lead. In the third period he would strike for two more, including another on the man advantage, keeping the foot on the gas for Bowling Green. Just one game into the season, he is tied for first nationally in total goals scored.

Female Athlete of the Week
Maureen Kennedy, a senior from Cypress, Calif., again made major contributions at both ends of the field as the Falcons won two more matches to remain undefeated in the MAC. Kennedy led BGSU with four points on the weekend, and was involved in the scoring of the game-winning goal in both matches. She had the primary assist on Nikhita Jacob's GWG in a 3-1 victory at Kent State Friday night. Then, on Sunday, Kennedy had a goal and an assist less than two minutes apart in a 3-1 win at Ohio. She had an assist on Chelsee Washington's game-opening goal, then scored a goal of her own just 1:50 later. At the other end of the field, Kennedy blocked an Ohio shot on the goal line for a 'team save' in the second half.
