UP NEXT IN FALCON FUTBOL
• The Bowling Green State University men's soccer team continues a four-game road swing with a pair of trips this week. Head coach Eric Nichols and the Falcons head to Indianapolis for a Tuesday night (Oct. 8) contest vs. IUPUI. First touch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Carroll Stadium.
• Then, the Orange and Brown will open Mid-American Conference play this weekend, heading to the Rubber City for a Saturday (Oct. 12) matchup with the University of Akron. That match is also set for a 7:00 p.m. start at UA's FirstEnergy Stadium.

FIVE FASCINATING FALCON FACTS
• Sophomore Ike Swiger enters the week with a two-match goal-scoring streak. He netted his first collegiate goal in the Falcons' 4-1 win over Canisius at Cochrane Stadium (Sept. 28), then scored the lone goal of the match three nights later, as BG picked up a road win over Detroit on Tuesday (Oct. 1).
• Swiger's goal at UDM was the first game-winning goal of his Falcon career. He was making his first collegiate start on Tuesday night in the Motor City.
• The Falcons have matched the team's win total for all of last season. BGSU has a record of 6-3-1 in 2019, after going 6-7-4 last fall.
• BGSU has also equaled the 2018 team's total of wins away from home. Last year, the Falcons went 4-5-1 (4-4-1 away, 0-1-0 neutral-site matches) in all games played away from Cochrane Stadium. This season to date, BG is 4-1-1 in such games, having gone 3-1-1 in true road matches and 1-0-0 at a neutral site.
• Since Eric Nichols took the BG helm prior to the 2009 season, the Falcons have a record of 59-8-6 when scoring at least two goals in a match. BGSU is now 30-2-2 when scoring three or more goals during that time.

THE OPPONENTS
• IUPUI is 3-4-2 on the season, including 2-1-1 in home games. The Jags are coming off of a 2-2, double-overtime draw vs. Milwaukee. Both IUPUI and the opponents have scored 10 goals this year to date. Yan Souza leads the team with four goals and nine points, while Alan Aguilar has three goals and seven points. Gianni Catenacci has six points including four assists. Quinn McCallion has played every minute of every match in goal, and has a 1.04 GAA and 42 saves.
• Akron is 1-7-1 heading into a Tuesday match at Butler. The Zips have gotten results in the last two matches, with a 2-0 win over VCU and a 1-1 draw vs. FIU. Akron is 1-2-1 at home this season to date. David Egbo, a preseason All-American, leads the Zips with three goals and seven points on the year. In goal, Tor Saunders has played in seven matches and has 20 saves and a 1.52 GAA. Joe Bowles has made two appearances and has seven stops and a 1.41 GAA. Last year, the Zips went 1-2-1 in conference play, finishing fourth in the regular-season standings. But, Akron won the MAC Tournament, then picked up five-straight wins in the NCAA Tournament to advance all the way to the national championship match. The 2018 Zips finished 15-7-2 overall.
THE SERIES
• BGSU leads IUPUI, 5-1-2, in the all-time series, and the Falcons have won the last three matches. Last year, Charlie Maciejewski's goal late in the first overtime period lifted the Falcons to a 3-2 victory in Indianapolis. The previous two meetings resulted in BG wins at Cochrane Stadium. BGSU has a seven-match unbeaten streak in the series, with IUPUI's only win coming in the inaugural meeting in 1994. BGSU is 4-1-0 at home and 1-0-2 on the road vs. the Jags.
• BGSU trails Akron, 47-8-5, in that series, but the teams have played an overtime contest in each of the last three years. Last season, the teams battled to a scoreless draw at Cochrane. Two years ago, the Zips picked up a 2-1 overtime win in NE Ohio. BGSU's last win over UA was a 1-0 decision at home late in the 2002 season.
DOWN THE ROAD...
• Following the Akron match, BG will conclude a stretch of four-straight road matches, facing SIUE on Saturday, Oct. 19. That match will begin at 7:00 p.m. locally (8:00 p.m. ET).
• Then, the Brown and Orange will return home to face Purdue Fort Wayne on Tuesday, Oct. 22.
