Jovannah East Named MAC Gymnast Of The Week

Cleveland, Ohio – Bowling Green State University gymnast Jovannah East has been named the Mid-American Conference Gymnast of the Week. It is the second time she has earned the honor this year and the fifth time in her career she has been recognized with a conference weekly award.
Over the course of two weekend meets, East earned seven first-place finishes and tied the school record with a near-perfect 9.975 on floor against Kent State. East won the vault, floor and all-around in both meets, while also taking first place in beam against Towson.
On the floor, East began the weekend with a 9.900 against Towson and then tied national champion Marny Oestreng with a 9.975 against Kent State for the highest score in program history. Her 39.325 all-around score against Towson is tied for the seventh-best score in program history and is the second-best total of her career. East added a 9.875 on both vault and beam against Towson, and a 9.850 on vault against Kent State. Her 9.975 on floor and 39.325 all-around were both the MAC's best this weekend.
On the year, East's 9.811 average on vault and 9.832 average on balance beam both lead the MAC. She is tied for second with a 38.917 all-around average and third on the floor at 9.832.
Bowling Green will be back in action Friday night at Central Michigan beginning at 7:00 pm.
