
Tennis Opens Weekend With 6-1 Victory Over Saint Louis

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University tennis program came away with another home win on Friday, Feb. 8 with a final score of 6-1. This is the Falcons second consecutive win, with both coming at home. The win elevates BGSU's record to 3-2 on the season, including an undefeated 2-0 record at home. In the home match, the Falcons fought back from early deficits to nearly achieve another shutout.

Bowling Green will continue their full slate this weekend tomorrow, Feb. 9, when they travel to East Lansing to face Michigan State with first serve set for 5 p.m. The Spartans will enter Saturday with a 3-3 record, but will play Connecticut prior to facing BGSU, with that match beginning at 10 a.m. The Spartans and Falcons last met during the 2016-17 season, with Michigan State coming out on top, 4-0. The Orange and Brown will then return home on Sunday, Feb. 10 to face Cleveland State.

Statistical Standouts
- The Falcons jumped out to a 3-0 lead in both No. 2 (Radeva / Silveira) and No. 3 (Bettinelli / Sasaki) doubles.
- Radeva and Silveira captured the first doubles win for the Falcons, closing out a 6-1 victory. Of the three doubles matches, they were the only to allow just one point.
- In singles, Bettinelli took an early lead, pulling out to 4-1 advantage in the first set. She would go on to win the set 6-2.
- After being down 2-1 in the first set, Comella stormed back to win the set, 6-3. The win in singles moves Comella into 18th on the BGSU All-Time Singles win list, as well as 14th on the BGSU All-Time Combined wins list.
- Radeva began down 5-2 in the first set, but regained momentum after not allowing another point within in the set, winning 6-5.
- Tavpash snagged another set shutout, not allowing a point in the second, and final, set of her singles match.
- After falling short in the first set, Sasaki battled back to win two close sets in the second and third, capturing another point for the Falcons.
