Falcon Divers To Compete At NCAA Diving Zones This Week
March 13, 2019 | Women's Swimming & Diving
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Two members of the Bowling Green State University swimming and diving team will be competing at the NCAA Diving Zones at Purdue University on Thursday, March 14 and Friday, March 15. Junior Talisa Lemke and freshman Kylie Mosset will be diving with a chance to qualify for the NCAA Championships, which will be held in Austin, Texas from Wednesday, March 20 through Saturday, March 23.
At the MAC Championships, Lemke came away with both diving titles, winning the 3-meter and the 1-meter dive. Her win in the 1-meter dive was her second consecutive MAC Championship in the event, also winning the event last year. In both dives, Lemke also holds the school record performance. Mosset also competed at the MAC Championships, registering a score of 214.30 in the 1-meter dive and a 227.45 in the 3-meter dive. She recently took first place in the regular season finale against Toledo in the 3-meter dive with a score of 270.45. Lemke finished second in the event.
At last year's NCAA Diving Zones, Lemke became the first Falcon in over 20 years to qualify for the NCAA National Championships, placing fifth in the 1-meter and ninth in the 3-meter. Competing in the NCAA National Championships, Lemke placed 30th of 48 divers with a score of 293.50 in the 3-meter, missing the finals by just 21.85 points. She also placed 23rd out of 49 divers in the 1-meter, receiving a score of 276.95, missing the finals by a mere 8.5 points.
Coach Perkins' Perspective
"Talisa is an excellent diver, but most importantly, she is an excellent person. She comes in everyday to do her very best. She fights through illness, she fights through injuries, she finds a way to balance school and athletics and she never gives you less than 100% of herself. We are lucky to have her on our team."
"Super happy and excited for Kylie to be able to compete at this meet her first year. She has come a long way this season and it has been fun watching her grow as a person and as an athlete."
