Falcons Claim First MAC Victory In 6-1 Win Over Northern Illinois

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University tennis program claimed their first Mid-American Conference win of the season on Friday (March 29) topping Northern Illinois, 6-1. This marks the Falcons' second consecutive win over the Huskies and moves BGSU's MAC record to 1-2 on the season. Overall, the Orange and Brown are back at .500 with an 8-8 standing on the year.

Statistical Standouts
- After winning MAC Women's Doubles Team of the Week, Comella and Tavpash surged again to begin Friday's match with a 6-0 victory in No. 1 doubles. The win is now their third in a row when playing No. 1 doubles.
- Sasaki and Bettinelli fought back in No. 3 doubles to take their first lead of the match with their fifth point, leading to a 6-4 victory to clinch the doubles point for BGSU.
- In singles play, Tavpash dominated early and carried the momentum through the entire match, only surrendering one point to her opponent in route to giving the Falcons a 2-0 lead.
- After claiming the first set 6-3, Sasaki looked unstoppable in her second set, winning 6-0 to increase the BGSU lead to 3-0.
- Pardo and Bettinelli added wins soon after to give the Orange and Brown a commanding 5-0 lead, and clinching their first MAC win of the season.
- Adding another tally in the win column, Comella picked up a three set win. After falling behind in the first set, Comella came back to sweep in the second before winning 7-5 in the third to clinch the match.
