Improve your skills under the guidance of the MAC Championship coaching staff!
The Bowling Green State University women's soccer program is offering a veritable plethora of camps this summer. Two-time Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year Matt Fannon and his staff are offering camps for girls of all ages and skill levels.
Coach Fannon and his staff, assistants Cian McDonald, Dan Ball and Erin Kielmeyer, are offering an ID camp for girls grade 9 and up on Sunday, June 16. The camp will provide campers with an insight into what life as a Division-I athlete at Bowling Green is like. This five-hour camp, held at the BGSU soccer facility, will give campers the opportunity to be evaluated by the BGSU women's soccer staff, as well as coaches from other regional colleges.
The following week (July 19-20), BGSU will offer an elite goalkeeper camp, geared toward 'keepers aged 12 through 18. The two-day camp will consist of on-field technical sessions for girls looking to elevate their game, and campers will receive insight into what a Division-I goalkeeper experiences, including film review and a 'keeper-specific strength and conditioning session.
BGSU will offer both an ID Residential Camp and a High School Team Camp from July 11-14. Whether attending as an individual or with their high-school team, the camps are a great way for individuals to learn what it takes to play at the collegiate level. High school teams will be assigned a BGSU women's soccer player, who will serve as both a chaperone as well as a point of reference for the campers' time at BG. Individuals can participate in the camp as either a resident or a commuter.
Finally, the Falcons will hold a Youth Day camp from July 15-17. The camp, for girls aged 6-14, is focused on helping players of any skill level develop their skills and knowledge of the game. The camp is built on the principles of fun, technique, tactics and a low player-to-coach ratio.
Looking ahead, BG will also offer a November ID Camp, similar to the June ID Camp. The November camp will be held on the afternoon of Nov. 17.
The Falcon women's soccer program won both the Mid-American Conference regular-season and tournament titles in 2018. BGSU went 14-5-3 overall, tying the school record for wins and setting a new record for fewest losses in a season, and the Falcons were 10-1-0 in MAC regular-season play. BG won the league regular-season title for just the second time in program history, and the total of 10 conference wins set a new school record. The Brown and Orange captured the MAC Tournament title for the third time.
Since Fannon took the helm prior to the 2017 season, the Falcons are 27-12-4 overall, 16-5-1 in MAC regular-season matches and 20-6-2 in all games vs. conference foes. Fannon, as mentioned, has been named MAC Coach of the Year in each of his first two seasons at BGSU.
