MATT FANNON INTERVIEW (Sept. 25, 2019)
FIVE FASCINATING FALCON FACTS (COCHRANE STADIUM EDITION)
• The Falcons enter the weekend with a record of 2-0-0 at Cochrane Stadium this season to date. BGSU posted a 2-0 win over Valparaiso and a 2-1 victory vs. Dayton, with the latter win coming in double overtime, at Cochrane.
• The UD match extended the Falcons' school-record home unbeaten streak to 13 matches. BGSU is 11-0-2 at Cochrane since a 1-0, double-OT setback to Xavier on Sept. 6, 2018.
• The Falcons have a record of 19-3-2 in home matches since Matt Fannon assumed the head-coaching helm prior to the 2017 season. In those 24 contests, BGSU has outscored the opponents, 53-18.
• BGSU is 13-1-1 in home matches (regular-season and tournament) against MAC foes in the Fannon Era, having outscored the opposition, 34-12, in those games. The Falcons are unbeaten in the last 14 home matches vs. MAC schools (13-0-1) since a 2-1 loss to Ball State in Fannon's first-ever MAC matchup (Sept. 22, 2017).
• Seniors Maureen Kennedy and Chelsee Washington are two of the top scorers in home matches in program history. Kennedy is tied for third on that BG list, with 32 career points at Cochrane Stadium. Washington is deadlocked for sixth with 30 points scored in home contests.

THE OPPONENTS
• Akron will bring a 3-5-0 record to Cochrane Stadium on Friday night. The Zips snapped a two-match losing streak with a 1-0 victory over Robert Morris on Thursday (Sept. 19). UA is 2-3 at home and 1-2 on the road this year to date. Ashley Amato anchors Akron's offense, having scored three of the team's six goals this year. In net, Libby Harper has started five of the eight matches and has eight saves and a 1.11 goals-against average. Coach Noreen Herlihy's team was picked to finish ninth in the MAC in the league's preseason coaches poll. Last year, UA went 8-10-2 overall and 5-5-1 in the conference.
• Buffalo is 3-3-1 on the year, heading into a Friday match at Toledo. The Bulls put together a four-match unbeaten streak, going 3-0-1 before suffering a narrow 2-1 loss in overtime at Oregon on Sunday night (Sept. 22). UB is 2-0-1 at home and 1-3-0 on the road in 2019. Marcy Barberic has team-leading totals of three goals and seven points, but a total of nine different players have scored at least one goal this year. In goal, Emily Kelly has started every match and has 27 saves and a GAA of just 0.99. Coach Shawn Burke's Bulls went 11-8-0 overall and 5-6-0 in the MAC last fall, and UB was picked to finish fourth in the league in 2019.
THE SERIES
• BGSU leads Akron, 11-6-1, in the all-time series, but the Zips captured last year's meeting to snap a four-match BGSU series win streak. Last Oct. 18, a goal from distance with just 1:41 remaining lifted the host Zips to a 1-0 triumph over the Falcons. BG outshot UA, 25-7, hitting the crossbar twice, but UA became the only MAC team to defeat the Falcons in the 2018 season. In the last meeting at Cochrane Stadium, BG picked up a 2-0 win two years ago. The Falcons are 6-2-1 at home and 5-4-0 on the road vs. the Zips over the years.
• BG leads Buffalo, 15-8-1, in that series, and the Falcons posted a 5-0 victory on the road last season, clinching the MAC's regular-season title in the process. Erica Hubert played just over half of that match, but was involved in the scoring of all five goals. Two years ago, BG posted a pair of come-from-behind victories at Cochrane, with a 3-2 win in the regular-season and a 3-1 triumph in the MAC Tournament's quarterfinal round. BG is 10-4-0 at home, 4-4-1 on the road and 1-0-0 in neutral-site matchups with UB through the years.
DOWN THE ROAD...
• Following the UB match, the Falcons will take to the road for the first time in Mid-American Conference play, heading to Kent State on Friday, Oct. 4, before meeting Ohio in Athens two days later (Oct. 6). BG then returns home to face Central Michigan on Thursday, Oct. 10.
