Five players named to All-Ohio Team, with three earning Academic All-Ohio honors as well
Five Bowling Green State University women's soccer standouts have earned accolades from the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association. Seniors Kathleen Duwve, Maureen Kennedy and Chelsee Washington, redshirt junior Nikki Cox and freshman Audrey Shea all have been named to the OCSA's All-Ohio Team. Additionally, Duwve, Kennedy and Washington were named to the organization's Academic All-Ohio Team.
Cox, Duwve, Kennedy and Washington all were named to the All-Ohio First Team, while Shea earned second-team honors.
BGSU's totals of four first-team selections and five total honorees were by far the highest of any school. No other DIvision-IÂ program in the state had more than two first-team picks and three total selections.
Duwve, Kennedy and Washington each earned All-Ohio First-Team honors for the second-straight season.
The aforementioned trio each earned Academic All-Ohio Team recognition for the second year in a row as well. Kennedy and Washington were named to the first team for the second-straight year, while Duwve was chosen to the second team in 2019.

Cox, a native of Granville, Ohio (Granville), ranked second on the Falcons in both goals and points in 2019, joining Washington and Kennedy on the All-MAC First Team. Cox started all 23 matches in 2019, and played a total of 1677 minutes on the year. Her 23 points included nine goals and five assists. Cox scored a team-high three GWG, including the winner in back-to-back games late in the season. Her GWG against Toledo enabled BG to clinch the MAC regular-season crown outright, and her winner against Central Michigan three days later helped the Falcons to victory in the MAC Tournament's quarterfinal round. Cox, after just two years with the Falcons, is ranked 11th in school history in goals. She has 42 points in 45 games as a Falcon, including 17 goals and eight assists. In addition to her All-MAC accolades, Cox was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region Second Team.
Duwve, a native of Sylvania, Ohio (Northview), started 22 of BGSU's 23 matches this season, including all 11 MAC contests, and was named to the All-MAC Second Team. She had six complete-match shutouts and combined on one other clean sheet. Duwve finished the year with 54 saves and a goals-against average of 1.05 on the year. In MAC regular-season matches only, Duwve had a GAA of just 0.72, allowing eight goals in the 11 matches. She saved two penalty kicks during the regular season, and stepped up big in the penalty-kick phase of the league tournament's championship match for the second-straight season. In the 2019 title match, Eastern Michigan scored just once in four PK attempts against Duwve. The senior saved EMU's first attempt, before the Eagles' third attempt went wide. Duwve saved Eastern's next kick, before BG won the crown with a successful PK to start the fifth round. Duwve finished her tenure ranked fifth or higher on every BGSU career goalkeeping list.
Kennedy, a native of Cypress, Calif. (Los Alamitos), recently became the first player in program to be named a Senior CLASS Award® All-American, earning first-team honors. The MAC's Defensive Player of the Year for the second-straight season, she finished fourth on the team with 17 points, despite missing the last four-plus contests due to injury. Kennedy had five goals and seven assists on the year, and she had 12 points on three goals and a team-high six helpers in MAC play. Kennedy scored a pair of game-winning goals in 2019, and saw another goal tie a match with just 19.3 seconds remaining in regulation. She was also named to the USC All-Midwest Region Second Team as well as the Academic All-District Team, sponsored by CoSIDA. Kennedy wound up her career with 61 points, ranking seventh in BGSU history. She finished second in school history in career assists, with 31, and was just two shy of tying the school record. And, she ended her career ranked 13th in career goals, with 15.
Shea, who hails from Upper Arlington, Ohio (Bishop Watterson), was named to the MAC's All-Freshman Team, and also earned All-MAC Second-Team honors in her first year with the Falcons. She started 22 of BGSU's 23 matches on the season, and played a team-leading 2,007 minutes. In MAC matches, she tied for the team lead, playing 1,004 of the 1,024 total minutes. After BGSU graduated two All-MAC defenders off of the 2018 team, Shea stepped into the starting lineup in the season opener and helped the Falcons repeat as league regular-season and tourney champions. She missed the home opener (Aug. 25) due to an injury suffered in the previous game, but returned to the lineup for the next match, and was on the field for every second of the next 13 contests. The next time she came off of the field was Oct. 24, when she was subbed out with 20 minutes left in a match BG led by six goals at the time. Then, she played every second of the remaining six matches as the Falcons clinched the regular-season crown, won the league tournament and advanced to the NCAAs.
Washington, a native of Carrollton, Texas (Hebron), was named the MAC's Offensive Player of the Year in 2019, and was selected to the All-MAC First Team for the second consecutive season. She scored a team-leading 25 points in her senior campaign, finishing second on the Falcons with eight goals and leading the club with nine assists. Washington's goal total included overtime winners vs. both Dayton and Eastern Michigan, and a goal in the NCAA Championships at Michigan. In MAC games, she tied for the team scoring lead, with 14 points in the 11 conference contests. Washington was named to the USC All-Midwest Region First Team, becoming just the second player in program history to earn all-region first-team honors. Additionally, she was named to the USC Scholar All-America Third Team, becoming BGSU women's soccer's first-ever student-athlete ever to be named to the USC Scholar All-America Team. Washington ended her career with 65 points at BG, tying for fourth in school history. She finished fifth in career goals, with 21, and tied for fourth on the BG assists list, with 23. Earlier this month, she became the first player in BGSU history to be selected on the NWSL Draft, as she was chosen by the Orlando Pride in the fourth round.
