December 03, 2025 | Women's Soccer
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (BGSU Strategic Communications) – A pair of Bowling Green State University women's soccer standouts have been named to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I All-Midwest Region Team. Junior Emma Stransky was named to the all-region third team, while classmate Emme Butera earned fourth-team honors.
Both players have been named to the all-region squad for the first time in their respective collegiate careers.
Stransky, a native of Copley, Ohio (Copley), led the Falcons in both goals and points in 2025. She played in all 22 matches, making 21 starts. The junior had 17 points on eight goals and an assist this fall, and was named to the All-Mid-American Conference First Team. Four of her eight goals were game winners. BGSU scored the first goal of the match eight times this season, and Stransky was the goal-scorer on six of those eight occasions. She led the Falcons with five goals (tying for third in the conference) and 11 points in MAC play, including a two-goal performance in the conference opener vs. Kent State. Stransky now has career totals of 15 goals, six assists and 36 points as a Falcon, and she has moved into the top 20 on the school career lists for both goals and points.
Butera, a native of Willoughby Hills, Ohio (Willoughby South), joined Stransky on the All-MAC First Team. She was one of just three players to start all 22 matches this season, and played 1,992 of the 2,016 total minutes. Butera scored seven points on a goal and a BGSU-high five assists this season, with six of those seven points came in MAC matches. Butera played the entirety of the match in 21 of BG's 22 contests. Primarily a midfielder, she has also spent time on the back line over the last few regular-season matches, and was a key reason why the Falcons allowed just 13 goals this season. Butera has played in all 58 of BGSU's matches since coming to Northwest Ohio, and she has started all 40 games over the last two seasons. She has 14 career points on three goals and eight assists.
BGSU finished the 2025 season with an overall record of 10-3-9, and the Falcons went 4-1-7 in MAC play. BG finished sixth in the 13-team conference, then proceeded to advance past third-seeded Buffalo and second-seeded Miami en route to the MAC Tournament's championship match. BGSU had just two seniors on the 2025 roster.
The Falcons were the only NCAA Division-I team in the country that did not allow more than one goal in any match this season. In BGSU's 22 matches, the Orange and Brown kept nine clean sheets and allowed exactly one goal on 13 occasions.
BG advanced to the MAC Tournament for the ninth consecutive season, the longest current streak among conference schools. And, the Falcons have appeared in the MAC Tournament Final a league-record 11 times.
