Falcons Fly To First Spring Victory With Win Over Penguins
January 24, 2020 | Women's Tennis
PERRYSBURG, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University tennis program claimed their first victory of the spring campaign, topping Youngstown State on Friday (Jan. 24) by a score of 5-2. The Falcons began the day by sweeping through doubles play, capturing all three wins, two by a 6-1 final and the other 6-4, to go up 1-0 on the day. As for singles, it was more of the same as the Falcons quickly racked up the three needed singles points to clinch the victory. Marharita-Sophia Tavpash, Ioanna Tsadari and Ayumi Sasaki closed out their sets first to push the lead to a 4-0 clinch. From there, the Orange and Brown continued to push to the finish line, seeing another win, coming from Yulia Kapitanova. The win moves the Falcons to 1-1 on the young season as they look to roll the momentum over into the upcoming road trip on Feb. 9 against Cleveland State.
