
Iyanna Ross Enters Record Book As Falcons Compete At Can-Am International

Ypsilanti, Mich. – The Bowling Green State University track and field team won three events Saturday at the Can-Am International, hosted by Eastern Michigan. Iyanna Ross won the 400, while Kaila Butler won the weight throw and Ayanna Burrell the triple jump in a strong day of action for the Falcons.

A TRIO OF WINNERS
- Sophomore Iyanna Ross etched her name in Bowling Green's record book in the 400. She won the event with a personal best time of 55.94 seconds. Ross' time makes her the fourth-fastest woman in program history in the event, less than a half-second shy of the school record.
- Redshirt junior Kaila Butler continued her strong season by winning the weight throw with a distance of 65-feet-1 (19.84m). Butler entered the weekend ranked among the top 20 in the country in the weight throw.
- Sophomore Ayanna Burrell set an indoor personal best in the triple jump, with a leap of 38-7.5 (11.77m) to win the event.
OTHER STRONG PERFORMANCES
- Redshirt freshman Katie Seyfang earned a Mid-American Conference automatic qualifying mark of 49-9.25 (15.17m) in the shot put. She placed second overall and posted a personal best distance.
- Seyfang also posted a personal best distance in the weight throw at 53-1.75 (16.20m).
- Freshman Trinity Fowler placed ninth in the 800 with a personal best time of 2:18.68.
- Redshirt sophomore Brianna Richard finished third in the triple jump with an indoor personal best distance of 37-1 (11.30m).
UP NEXT
- BGSU has a week off before competing at Akron Feb. 7-8. This will be the site of the MAC Championship Feb. 28-29.
