With the game knotted at 10-10 after a Matt McDonald touchdown run, the visiting Golden Flashes scored four second-quarter TDs to break the game open.
For the Falcons, freshman Terion Stewart carried the ball 14 times for 162 yards – all in the fourth quarter – and two touchdowns. Stewart had six carries of 10 yards or more, including a 69-yard TD run to cap the game's scoring.
Led by Stewart, the Falcons had a total of 260 yards rushing in the game, averaging 6.0 yards per carry.
Dustin Crum threw for 271 yards and four touchdowns for the Golden Flashes. Isaiah McKoy and Ja'Shaun Poke each had a pair of receiving TDs, while Marquez Cooper scored twice on the ground for the visitors.
NOTE OF THE NIGHT
• Freshman Terion Stewart, as mentioned, had 14 fourth-quarter rushes, and wound up with a game-high total of 162 yards. He averaged 11.6 yards per carry and scored a pair of touchdowns.
• Stewart ran for 11 yards on his first collegiate rush, which was the first play of BG's first fourth-quarter drive. He followed that up with a 24-yard gain on the next play, then went 11 more yards on the play after that.
• Stewart had eight rushes for 47 yards on that drive, capping it with a 1-yard scoring run.
• BG's next drive saw him gain a total of 40 yards in a three-play span. The Falcons' final drive of the night went 75 yards in two plays, with Stewart accounting for every yard. He gained six yards on the first play, then took the ball the remaining 69 yards on the next.
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST QUARTER
• On the second play from scrimmage, a Dustin Crum pass was bobbled, then caught, by Dante Cephas. The 50-yard play put the Golden Flashes into BGSU territory, and the drive ended with Crum's 10-yard touchdown pass to Isaiah McKoy.
• On the ensuing kickoff, redshirt senior Bryson Denley returned the ball all the way to the KSU 12-yard line. A penalty moved the Falcons back, but BGSU got on the scoreboard on a 29-yard field goal by redshirt senior Nate Needham.
• KSU's second drive featured multiple penalties by both teams, but the Flashes slowly drove downfield, moving inside the Falcons' 30-yard line. On a third-and-1 play, however, junior Caleb Biggers tackled a KSU receiver for a three-yard loss, and the drive ended with a field goal by Matthew Trickett.
• The Falcons responded with an emphatic drive that tied the game. BG went 77 yards in nine plays, culminating with a two-yard run by redshirt junior quarterback Matt McDonald.
• That drive featured several big plays, including a 22-yard completion from McDonald to redshirt sophomore Noah Massey on the first play.
• Freshman Jhaylin Embry ran for 22 yards several plays later, and a 13-yard rush by redshirt frosh Trevon Raymore put the ball inside the red zone.
• Denley carried the ball around right end for 10 yards, and two pays later, McDonald rolled right and, with a diving effort, touched the pylon with the ball for a score. Needham's PAT tied the contest at 10-10 late in the opening quarter.
• The next drive saw redshirt junior Diata Burns tackle a KSU runner for a six-yard loss on a first-down play at midfield. The quarter ended with the Flashes on the Falcons' 45-yard line.
SECOND QUARTER
• KSU converted on third down on the opening play of the second quarter, and several plays later, Crum found Ja'Shaun Poke on a 16-yard TD toss to give the visitors the lead once again.
• McDonald responded by hitting redshirt freshman Tyrone Broden for a 37-yard gain early in the next drive. But, the Falcons turned the ball over on downs in KSU territory.
• Kent State took a two-score lead on the next drive, on a catch-and-run from Crum to McKoy. The 32-yard play, along with Trickett's PAT, gave the Flashes a 24-10 lead.
• The Flashes began the next drive with favorable field position, taking over at the BGSU 43. Redshirt freshman Blaine Spires wrapped up Crum for a five-yard loss on the opening play, but the Flashes wound up converting on fourth and short. Marquez Cooper scored from two yards out several plays later. And, on the next drive, Crum's pass down the middle found Poke for what turned out to be a 55-yard TD play.
• A fumble late in a rainy second quarter gave the ball back to KSU inside the BGSU 40-yard line, but sophomore Darren Anders tackled a receiver after a short gain, redshirt senior Roland Walder sacked Crum for an eight-yard loss and a third-down play came up short. Trickett's 46-yard field-goal attempt was wide right.
THIRD QUARTER
• A nifty kickoff return by Denley gave the Falcons the ball at the 35-yard line to begin the half. BGSU was forced to punt, but redshirt senior Matt Naranjo's kick went 63 yards and out of bounds at the KSU three-yard line.
• Two plays later, sophomore Jordan Anderson stopped Crum at the one. Crum avoided a safety with a last-second lunge as Anderson brought him down. BG held KSU to a three-and-out, and after a punt, the Falcons had the ball near midfield.
• Two Raymore carries gave the Falcons a total of 17 yards and a first down, but the BG drive stalled at the KSU 40 and Naranjo came on to punt.
• The Falcons allowed KSU to gain just three yards in three plays on the next drive, and after a penalty on the Flashes made it fourth-and-12, the ensuing punt rolled out of bounds at the BG 47-yard line.
• A Naranjo punt pinned the Golden Flashes inside the 10, but a long, methodical drive ended when Cooper scored from two yards out.
• The next drive saw McDonald scramble and find senior Quintin Morris for a first down on a third-and-10 play. BG was forced to punt, but redshirt freshman Patrick Day sacked KSU QB Collin Schlee on the next drive.
• A long run by Schlee, however, put the Flashes into the red zone just before the third quarter came to a close.
FOURTH QUARTER
• The BG defense held inside the 10, and the visitors settled for a field goal.
• Freshman Terion Stewart carried for 11 yards and a first down to open the next drive. He followed that up with a 24-yard run on the next play.
• Stewart's third carry in as many plays netted the Falcons' third first down in as many plays. He picked up 11 more yards to take the ball to the KSU 29.
• On fourth and 10, McDonald rolled out and found Massey for a 23-yard gain to the KSU 6-yard line. Several plays later, Stewart carried the ball the final yard for his first collegiate touchdown.
• Schlee scored on a 15-yard scamper for the visitors with 6:10 to go. Stewart continued his impressive fourth-quarter performance with a 19-yard run on the first play of the next drive.
• Stewart had a 15-yard run two plays later, as he gained a total of 40 yards in a three-play span.
• A Schlee pass to Isaiah Wooden ended the night's scoring for the Flashes.
• Stewart rambled 69 yards for his second TD of the quarter and of his career. Needham's PAT capped the scoring.
FALCON NOTES

• Trevon Raymore had a total of 62 yards on the ground, a new career best. He had 50 yards in last season's Miami game.
• After recording a career-high 11 tackles last week at Toledo, Darren Anders had nine more stops on Tuesday evening.
• Isaiah Johnson-Mack entered the game with a career total of two tackles, including one last week at UT, but he had a total of eight vs. the Golden Flashes. Johnson-Mack also broke up two passes on Tuesday.

• Redshirt freshman Blaine Spires had five tackles, including a pair of tackles for loss. Spires chased down a KSU rusher for a loss on the first play of the Flashes' second drive of the game, then tackled KSU QB Dustin Crum for a five-yard loss in the second quarter.
• Redshirt senior Matt Naranjo had a 63-yard punt early in the third quarter, putting the ball out of bounds at the Kent State 3-yard line. Naranjo twice pinned the Flashes inside the 10-yard line on the night.
