This Week In Falcon Athletics (Nov. 23-29)

Each week, the BGSU Strategic Communications Department breaks down the week ahead in athletics and recaps the week gone by. Listed below are all games over the course of the next seven days with links and information for fans. Following that info are recaps, scores and links from games over the past week.

Bowling Green is scheduled to begin year No. 6 of the Michael Huger Era on Wednesday, Nov. 25. The Falcons will travel to Ann Arbor to face the nationally-ranked (No. 25) Wolverines in Crisler Center at 4 p.m. The Falcons will conclude the week with a home game at Stroh Center versus South Carolina State at 12 p.m. noon. The Falcons return nine letterwinners from last year's 21-win team that entered the MAC Tournament as the No. 2 overall seed. Justin Turner, already a two-time First Team All-MAC selection, enters the 2020-21 season just 344 points shy of becoming the program's all-time leading scorer. Plowden, a Second Team All-MAC selection a season ago, needs 218 points to reach the 1,000-point milestone. BGSU's third senior, Trey Diggs, led the Falcons last year with a 39.1 three-point percentage.

BGSU Football begins the second half of its season Saturday at Ohio for a noon kickoff on ESPN+. Ohio will have had 18 days off before this game gets underway after having its contest with Miami canceled. Bowling Green continues to show signs of development on a weekly basis and will look to upend the 1-1 Bobcats. Quarterback Matt McDonald is coming off the best game of his young career, going 17-of-27 for 219 yards against Buffalo. True freshman Terion Stewart leads the team with 204 yards rushing and four touchdowns. Defensively, sophomore linebacker Darren Anders recorded 14 tackles against Buffalo and ranks No. 10 nationally with 11.3 per game.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

The Falcons get the 2020-21 season underway when Valparaiso comes to town for a Sunday afternoon matchup at the Stroh. The Crusaders knocked off the Falcons in a wild overtime game last season, one that saw the teams combine for nearly 200 points. Head coach Robyn Fralick and her staff welcome back seven letterwinners, including four starters, from last year's team. The youthful 2020-21 squad features 10 players with freshman or sophomore eligibility on the 15-woman roster. Seniors Madisen Parker and Angela Perry each finished among the nation's top-20 players in at least one statistical category last season, with Parker leading the entire country in three-point field-goal percentage. The senior class also includes Clare Glowniak, who returns for a fifth season with the Falcons, as well as Mari Hill, who had a Stroh Center-record nine steals in her BGSU debut last November. The Valpo game is the first of five scheduled non-conference contests, including two at the Stroh Center.
