Anders, Platts Named Jets Athletes Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Jet's Pizza Athletes of the Week, as selected by the athletic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. For the opening week of the 2020-21 season, our winners are football player Darren Anders and swimmer Daisy Platts.

Male Athlete of the Week
Darren Anders, a sophomore linebacker from North Olmstead, Ohio, recorded a team-high 11 tackles and a fumble recovery Wednesday night at Toledo. Anders had six solo tackles and added a team-high 1.5 tackles for loss in the contest.

Female Athlete of the Week
Daisy Platts, a junior from Leicester, U.K., set a pair of pool records as the Falcons opened the 2020-21 season with a dual meet at Ball State on Saturday afternoon. Platts won the 100 and 200 Backstroke events, breaking the old Lewellen Pool record in the 100 Back by three-quarters of a second. Then, she shattered the pool record in the 200 Back by nearly three seconds. Platts was a part of three event victories on Saturday, as she swam the first leg of the 400 Freestyle Relay, and she was part of the 200 Medley Relay team that finished second.
