Lexi Fleming Again Named Medical Mutual Athlete Of The Week

Each week, the Bowling Green State University Athletic Department names the Medical Mutual Athletes of the Week, as selected by the strategic communications department based on their athletic performances from the previous week. For the fifth consecutive week, women's basketball's Lexi Fleming was named the Female Athlete of the Week. There is no Male Athlete of the Week as no men's teams competed.

Female Athlete of the Week
Lexi Fleming, a freshman from Cincinnati, Ohio, becomes the first BGSU athlete since 2010-11 to earn this award in five consecutive weeks (since Lauren Prochaska from Nov. 2010 and into Jan. of 2011). Fleming had the highest-scoring game of her young career, leading all players with 26 points in BG's 71-66 win over Miami. Fleming had her own personal 7-0 run for the second-straight game, scoring seven consecutive points late in the third quarter to give BGSU a four-point lead. She had 17 of her 26 points in the second half, and tied her career high with five steals. Fleming has scored in double digits in each of the first seven games of the season (just the sixth player and the first freshman to do so since 1993), and she has topped the 20-point mark in all four of BGSU's home games to date.
