INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Bowling Green State University tennis program fell on Sunday (Feb. 23) to the University of Indianapolis by a score of 5-2. The Greyhounds entered the day as the No. 4 team in Division-II and holding a 6-0 record. In singles play, Ioanna Tsadari and Ayumi Sasaki were able to claim points for the Falcons at No. 2 and No. 4 singles, respectively. The loss moves Bowling Green to 3-3 on the spring season as they prepare for the Illinois State Invitational this coming weekend, a tournament that will feature Milwaukee, Dayton and host Illinois State.

Making Of The Match

The doubles point went to the Greyhounds after the Falcons put up a battle on all three courts, but Indianapolis came out with the win in each of the three matches.
Singles started off well for the Falcons, seeing Sasaki claim the No. 4 singles point to even the score for the day at 1-1. In both sets, Sasaki won by scores of 6-1 to take the point.
The Greyhounds reclaimed the lead with it growing to 3-1 before the Falcons were able to snag another point. At No. 2 singles, Tsadari put the Orange and Brown back on the board with a come-from-behind victory. After falling in the first set, Tsadari charged back to take the second set in extra points. From there, momentum set up a 6-2 third set to bring the score to 3-2.
Despite a late push by Bowling Green, Indianapolis took the final two points to secure their win with a 5-2 final score.

Moving In The Record Book

With another singles win, Sasaki continued to move up the all-time singles win list, now with 50 over her four years at Bowling Green. She is now tied with Tisa Pacella (1989-92) for 28th on the career singles wins list.

Up Next

This coming weekend, being Feb. 29 and March 1, the Falcons will head to Normal, Ill. to participate in the Illinois State Invitational. The Falcons will first face Milwaukee on Friday (Feb. 29) for a 2 p.m. first serve. The team will then face either Illinois State or Dayton on Sunday (March 1) at 9 a.m. with the opponent being dependent on Saturday's outcomes.
As for the home schedule, the Orange and Brown will be back on the home courts on March 6 to host Indiana Tech for a 2 p.m. first serve.
