SETTING THE SCENE...
• The Bowling Green State University women's basketball team opens the road portion of the February schedule with a midweek intradivisional matchup. Head coach Robyn Fralick and the Falcons travel to Northeast Ohio for a Wednesday (Feb. 5) game at Kent State University. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. at the M.A.C. Center.
THE STARTING FIVE (FIVE SOMEWHAT FASCINATING FALCON FACTS)
• Junior Angela Perry led the Falcons and tied for game honors with 23 points on Saturday (Feb. 1) against Miami. For Perry, it was her team-leading eighth game of 20 or more points this season.
• Perry made 10 of her 12 shots from the field, moving her seasonal field-goal percentage above 60 percent. Perry currently leads the Mid-American Conference and is ranked 11th in the country in that category with a 60.3% success rate.
• Fellow junior Madisen Parker leads the league – and ranks second in the nation – in three-point field-goal percentage, and she also paces the conference in triples made per game.
• Parker has moved into the BGSU top 10 for three-pointers made in a season, and she is 17th on the school's career list.
• Sophomore Kadie Hempfling tops the conference in assists per game, and she is fourth in the MAC in assist/turnover ratio and sixth in rebounding.
A QUICK LOOK AT THE GOLDEN FLASHES
• Kent State is 11-8 overall, and the Golden Flashes have a 4-4 record in MAC play. KSU had won four of five games before falling, 69-60, at Toledo on Saturday.
• KSU is 5-3 at home, 4-3 on the road and 2-2 at neutral sites. In MAC action, the Flashes are 2-2 both home and away.
• Nila Blackford has 14.1 ppg to pace no fewer than five double-figure scorers, and she also leads the team with 7.4 rpg. Megan Carter and Asiah Dingle have 12.8 and 12.6 ppg, respectively.
• Head coach Todd Starkey welcomed back 10 letterwinners, including four starters, from a 2018-19 Golden Flash team that finished with a 20-13 overall record and an 11-7 MAC mark.
THE SERIES
• The Falcons lead Kent State, 56-35, in the all-time series. BG and KSU split the regular-season series last year, with two free throws in the final seconds breaking a tie and lifting KSU to a home win, 77-73 (Feb. 16, 2019), before BGSU downed the Flashes, 62-49 at the Stroh (March 2, 2019). But, nine days later, host KSU topped the Falcons by an 86-62 count in the first round of the MAC Tournament (March 11, 2019). BGSU is 28-12 in home games (including 7-2 in the Stroh), 21-21 on the road and 7-2 at neutral sites vs. the Flashes over the years.
DOWN THE ROAD
• Following the KSU contest, the Falcons return home for the next two games. BGSU will meet Northern Illinois on Saturday (Feb. 8), in a 1:00 p.m. start at the Stroh, and the Falcons will host Eastern Michigan next Wednesday (Feb. 12).
