Falcons picked to finish ninth
The Bowling Green State University softball team has been predicted to finish ninth in the Mid-American Conference in 2020, according to the league's preseason poll. The poll, the result of voting by the MAC's 11 head coaches, was released on Wednesday afternoon (Feb. 5) by the conference office.
Miami was picked to win the MAC regular-season title, while Kent State was tabbed to finish second. After 21 years of two six-team divisions, the MAC eliminated divisions for the sport of softball prior to last season
Ball State was third in the poll, followed by Ohio, Toledo, Central Michigan, Northern Illinois, Western Michigan, BGSU, Akron and Buffalo.
Miami and KSU each garnered four first-place votes to win the regular-season crown, while BSU received two votes and UT one.
MU and KSU each received five votes to capture the MAC Tournament title, with BSU receiving one.
Head coach Sarah Willis and her staff welcome back 10Â letterwinners, including seven players who started at least 20 games, a year ago.
Willis and the Falcons begin the 2020 season on Feb. 14 at the Chattanooga Tournament, and the home opener is scheduled for March 21 against Buffalo. Willis and her staff have five seniors on the 2020 roster.
