Spring Breakdown: The Quarterbacks

Bowling Green, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University defensive line enters 2020 with an experienced, but youthful unit.

Redshirt senior Demonte Haigler enters the spring as one of only two senior defensive linemen for the Falcons. Haigler played in eight games last season and started six of them.

"Demonte has done a great job stepping into a leadership role," Defensive Line Coach Julian Campenni said. "It is a collective effort to replace some of the guys we lost, but Demonte has done a great job of that."

Karl Brooks and Roland Walder, the other redshirt senior, will help Haigler this season as well. Brooks started all twelve contests last year for the Falcons and forced a fumble in the Falcons win over Toledo. Brooks recorded 33 tackles, 4.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and one interception.

Walder played in 11 contests last season, recording 19 tackles. He will be in his fourth season at Bowling Green State University after transferring from Kentucky.

Jevon Henderson, Walter Haire, Jordan Murphy, Chris Oliver and Andrew Bench also have experience playing for the Falcons. Other members of the unit include Blaine Spires, Anthony Hawkins and Tche Leroux. Early enrollee freshman Dontrez Brown could be a factor as well.

The Falcons will add two defensive linemen this fall, with Billie Roberts from Muskegon, Mich. and Adrian Wilson from Frankfort, Ill.
