BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University men's basketball team was defeated by the University of Toledo, 84-66, Saturday (Jan. 30) afternoon inside of the Stroh Center. The Falcons are now 10-7 overall and 6-5 in Mid-American Conference play.
Senior Trey Diggs led the Falcons with 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting, including a 5-for-11 mark from downtown. Freshman wing Josiah Fulcher added 12 points, while fifth-year senior Justin Turner finished with 11 points and five assists. Turner needs five points to surpass Anthony Stacey (1995-2000 | 1,938 points) as Bowling Green's all-time leading scorer.
Freshman guard Kaden Metheny and senior forward Daeqwon Plowden each scored nine points for the Orange and Brown. Plowden is seven points away from becoming the 49th player in school history to eclipse 1,000 points.
The Rockets had seven players score at least eight points, led by 19 from senior Spencer Littleson. Toledo shot 50.8 percent (33-of-65) as a team and made 10 three-pointers.
COACH HUGER QUOTE
"Toledo played very well. They are in first place for a reason. They did a great job of moving the ball and sharing the ball. They made the runs and we were not able to stop the runs … We have to work harder and do better."
