Falcons Open CCHA Play With Win Over Nationally Ranked Beavers

BEMIDJI, Minn. – The Bowling Green Falcons (3-0-2) defeated No. 17 Bemidji State, 3-2, on Friday (Oct. 29). The Falcons, playing their first CCHA game since 2013, remain the only unbeaten team in the country. Chrystopher Collin scored a career-best two goals and Zack Rose made a career-high 38 saves.

Scoring Plays
- Bemidji State found the net first with a power play goal by Eric Martin. Martin lit the lamp on a rebound with less than ten seconds remaining in the opening frame. Assists were credited to Brad Johnson and Will Zmolek.
- The Falcons evened the score less than two minutes into the second period as Chrystopher Collin found the back of the net for this first time this season. Sam Craggs and Taylor Schneider notched the assists.
- With 16 seconds remaining in the second period, Coale Norris found a deflected shot on the left side of the pipes and fired home his second goal of the season to give Bowling Green the lead. Nathan Burke and Austen Swankler earned the assists.
- The Falcons extended their lead with Collin's second goal of the evening. Eric Parker found Taylor Schneider behind the net, then Schneider fed the puck to a wide-open Collin for the score.
- Bemidji State trimmed the deficit a few minutes later with a breakaway goal by Ethan Somoza. The lone assist was awarded to Kyle Looft.
- Chrystopher Collin's first period score marked his first point of the season and second goal of his career.
- Collin found the net again in the third, marking the first multi-goal performance of his career.
- Taylor Schneider assisted on both of Collin's scores. This marks the first multi-assist game of the season for the senior, and fourth of his career..
- Coale Norris scored a goal for the second consecutive game, bringing his point total to four this season.
- Sam Craggs tallied an assist for the second consecutive game.
- Eric Parker earned the second assist on Collin's second goal, while Austen Swankler had the first assist on the Norris goal. The freshmen are tied for the team lead with four assists this season.
- Nathan Burke assisted on the Norris goal, his first assist as a Falcon. He and Swankler are tied for the team lead with six points each.
- Bemidji State held a 40-22 advantage in shots, including a 16-5 lead in the first period. The Beavers also held a 43-15 advantage in faceoffs.
- Zack Rose recorded a career-best 38 saves. His season-high in saves was 26 entering tonight, a number he matched in the first two periods.
