Sophomore striker earns the honor after helping BGSU to yet another title
Bowling Green State University women's soccer standout Lacee Bethea has been named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week, it was announced on Monday afternoon (Nov. 8).
UPDATE: On Tuesday (Nov. 9), Bethea earned honorable mention on the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week.
Bethea, a native of Lexington, Ohio (Lexington), was named the MVP of the Mid-American Conference Tournament after helping the Falcons win the tourney title for the fourth consecutive season. Bethea scored a goal in each of BGSU's two wins en route to the crown.
She had the winning goal on Thursday (Nov. 4), with the lone marker of the contest in BG's 1-0 victory over Buffalo in the semifinals. Then, on Sunday (Nov. 7), Bethea scored the clinching goal as the Falcons downed Kent State, 3-0, in the championship match.
On the season, Bethea has seven goals for the Falcons, who will represent the conference in the NCAA. BGSU (11-6-3, 8-2-1 MAC) won both the league regular-season and tournament crowns, and will find out the next opponent when the NCAA Selection Show is held later this afternoon (Monday, Nov. 8, at 4:30 p.m. ET online at NCAA.com.
