Falcons Look To Extend Win Streak Tuesday Against Oakland

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball program will be back at the Stroh Center on Tuesday (Dec. 7) for the first of four straight home games during the month of December. The Falcons will host Oakland University for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off. The contest between the Falcons and Golden Grizzlies will be available to stream through ESPN3. Fans can also tune in to the action via radio on WFRO Eagle 99. Live stats will be provided by bgsufalcons.com with live updates available on Twitter (@BGSUMHoops).Â
The meeting between the Falcons and Golden Grizzlies will be the 10th all-time and the second consecutive to be held on Dec. 7 at the Stroh Center after playing on the same day two years ago. The game will mark the second in the Stroh Center for the series after having three straight take place in Rochester, Mich.Â

At The Game: Heroes Night
Tuesday's game against Oakland will be Heroes Night at the Stroh Center. A court-size flag will be presented during the national anthem. Additionally, free tickets will be available for current and retired members of the military, police, fire and rescue and first responders. Discounted tickets will also be available for family members of those receiving free tickets.Â

Regardless of vaccination status, all guests, staff, and vendors will be required to wear a face covering while in the Stroh Center. Fans are not required to show proof of vaccination to enter the Stroh Center, but face coverings – covering the nose and mouth – are required for all fans as they watch the game from their assigned seat and enter, exit, and move around. Children 2 and younger will not be required to wear a face covering. If spectators are unable to wear face coverings, they are encouraged not to attend games in-person for the sake of their health and the health of others.

Going Against The Golden GrizzliesÂ
Oakland will enter the game against the Falcons with a five-game win streak. The Golden Grizzlies have just two losses on the season, coming against Alabama and West Virginia. Of the five consecutive wins for Oakland, four have been by eight points or less and three have been by four points or less. Oakland also tallied a one-point victory over Oklahoma State earlier this season. Individually, the Golden Grizzlies are led by Jamal Cain who is averaging a double-double with 21.2 points and 10.7 rebounds per game.Â

Bowling Green has been taking advantage of the free throw line so far this season. As of Sunday (Dec. 5), the Falcons ranked 48th in the nation for free throw percentage, working at a 75.9% clip from the line. Individually, Daeqwon Plowden has been among the best in the nation from the stripe. As of Sunday, Plowden was 17th in the nation for free throws made (42) as well as 24th for free throws attempted (53).Â
The Most Wonderful Time Of The YearÂ
Bowling Green will play a total of five games in December four of which will be at home in the Stroh Center. During the Coach Huger Era, now in its seventh season, the Orange and Brown have performed the best during the month of December. When playing during the calendar's 12th month, Huger's Falcons are 22-12 for a .647 win percentage, the best winning percentage of any month during Huger's tenure.Â
