Brandon Kruse Logs 100th Career Assist As Falcons Best Wildcats

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The No. 14 Bowling Green State University hockey was able to bounce back on Sunday (Feb. 21) to top Northern Michigan in a 6-2 final. For the Falcons, 11 different players tallied at least a point in the game as well as having four players log multiple-points. Brandon Kruse also was able to register his 100th career assist in the Orange and Brown, becoming just the 21st player in program history to do so and the first since Kelly Perrault during the 1996-97 season. With the win, the Falcons tally four points on the weekend and hang on to second place in the WCHA with a 6-5-1-0 conference record while being 17-8-1 in the regular season. The Orange and Brown will be back in action on Wednesday (Feb. 24) at 7:07 p.m. for their final home game of the regular season, being against Alabama Huntsville.Â

Scoring Plays
- Northern Michigan scored the first goal of the game just before the midway mark of the first period. Colby Enns scored with assists from David Keefer and Michael Van Unen.Â
- The Falcons soon answered with a goal from Seth Fyten, his fifth of the season. Max Johnson and Alex Barber had the assists after Barber forced the turnover in the Falcons' offensive zone to set up the score.Â
- Just over a minute later the Falcons tallied another score, this one off the stick of Taylor Schneider. Schneider fired the puck from the faceoff circle, seeing assists from Will Cullen and Cameron Wright.Â
- In the second period, Northern Michigan tied it up with a goal from Joseph Nardi and assists from Andre Ghantous and Griffin Loughran.Â
- The Falcons answered to reclaim the lead. Playing 4-on-4, Will Cullen was able to net the puck with an assist from Connor Ford.Â
- The scoring continued into the third period for Bowling Green, seeing Ford net a short-handed goal on a breakaway attempt with an assist from Barber.Â
- Later in the period, Evan Dougherty capitalized on a great pass from Brandon Kruse to add to the lead. Cullen also had an assist on the goal.Â
- Before the end of the game, Schneider was able to net a power play goal for the Falcons, seeing assists come from Sam Craggs and T.J. Lloyd.Â
Falcon Stat Facts
- Registering an assist on Evan Dougherty's goal in the third period, Brandon Kruse became the 21st player in program history to register 100 career assists and the first since the 1996-97 season. Now with 137 career points, Kruse is tied for 39th all-time with Peter Wilson.Â
- With a goal and an assist, Connor Ford moved his career point total to 110, now up to 60th all-time, passing Brent Regan on the list. The multiple-point outing for Ford is his sixth of the season and 27th of his career.Â
- With his 70th career assist, Max Johnson now stands at 117 career points, needing just one more to tie Steve Murphy for 56th all-time in program history.Â
- Cameron Wright also tallied an assist in the contest, now up to 98 career points and needing just two more to become the team's fourth active 100-point scorer.Â
- Will Cullen was able to log three points in the game, coming from a goal and two assists. This marks the sixth multiple-point game of the season for Cullen while also being his fourth multiple-assist outing.Â
- Taylor Schneider was able to tally two goals for the Falcons in the win, being his second multiple-point game this season and the first multiple-goal game of his career. Â
- Rounding out the multiple-point performances, Alex Barber had two assists for his sixth multiple-point game of the season and his second multiple-assist game.Â
- With an assist in the contest, T.J. Lloyd is now up to 12 points this season, setting a new career-high for the sophomore after having 11 last year.Â
- With the win between the pipes, Eric Dop picks up his 10th win of the season, marking double-digit wins in back-to-back season.Â

- "Tonight was a really good team effort. Our guy's stayed with the game plan for 60 minutes. This was a real big win for our team and we had a bunch of guys contribute."Â
