FULL GAME NOTES
Preparing For The Postseason
For the fifth consecutive season the Falcons will compete in the MAC Tournament and will be hosting the tournament for the second consecutive year. Bowling Green will enter as the top seed following a 20-1 campaign that included an 18-match win streak that set multiple records for both the program and the athletic department as a whole. Now, the Falcons will turn their attention to the Tournament, looking to win their first MAC Tournament Championship and get an NCAA bid for the first time since 2012.Â
Ready For The RedHawksÂ
The Falcons will take on the Miami RedHawks in the Semifinals of the MAC Tournament. The two teams last met on Feb. 4 and 5 where the Falcons captured a sweep. The first match ended in a 3-0 win for the Falcons while the Orange and Brown battled back from a 2-0 deficit in the second to win 3-2 in five-sets. As for the RedHawks, they enter the MAC Tournament riding a five-match win streak, having two wins against both Eastern Michigan, both 3-1, and Central Michigan, both 3-2, as well as another against Ball State, 3-2.
For The First Time Since… Â
For the first time since the 2008 season the Falcons have tallied consecutive 20-win seasons. Bowling Green concluded the 2019 season with a 20-13 record and now has a 20-1 standing this year. The last time the team was able to do so came in a streak of three consecutive 20-win seasons, spanning from 2006-2008. In 2006 the Falcons went 26-6 before being 21-10 in 2007 and then 25-9 in 2008.Â
The Season Of SweepsÂ
With back-to-back sweeps over Buffalo to close out the regular season, the Falcons now have been able to tally 11 sweeps this season, coming against seven different teams. The last time the Falcons hit double-digit sweeps was when they tallied 13 during the 2016 campaign, finishing with a 21-10 record that season.
Kidwell Closing In On The All-Time MarkÂ
Katie Kidwell is closing in on the all-time record for career block assists after moving into second place. Kidwell currently stands with 425 career block assists, needing 19 more to pass Kendra Halm and become the program's all-time leader for the statistic. Kidwell also moved up the all-time list for career total blocks. Now with 489, Kidwell passed Tammy Schiller for fourth all-time and now trails Halm there as well, needing 27 total blocks to move into third all-time for the category.Â
Nearing 300Â Â
Both Petra Indrova and Katelyn Meyer are closing in on 300 kills this season, a mark that only three players in the MAC have reached thus far. Meyer currently stands at 292 kills, needing just eight more to reach the mark. Her current total places her in a tie for 25th in the nation for total kills. Indrova isn't far behind either, needing 18 to reach 300. With 282 kills, Indrova is tied for 33rd in the nation for total kills this season. So far this season, only Missouri State has two players with 300 or more kills, seeing one player with 328 and another with 316.Â
