Perry Ready To Run At Nationals
March 04, 2021 | Women's Cross Country
Bowling Green, Ohio -- The national spotlight is not done shining on Kailee Perry.
Over three months removed from her outstanding victory at the MAC Championships on Nov. 21, Perry has officially qualified to run at the 2020 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships, which will take place on Monday, March 15.
At the MAC Championships, she posted a remarkable time of 20:41.0 in the 6k event, becoming the fourth individual MAC Champion in program history. Additionally, she was awarded MAC Freshman of the Year, joining Rachel Walny in 2015 as the only two runners in school history to accomplish this feat. This performance, as well as her emphatic victory at the Falcon Invitational two weeks prior, saw her named USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week for Division I Women twice.
The redshirt-freshman is the 11th runner in program history to qualify for nationals, but only the fourth individual qualifier, and first of this millennium. She joins an exclusive list of individual qualifiers that includes Wendy Licht-Ordway (1998), JoAnn Lanciaux (1981), and Betsy Ryan (1980).Â
