Sorgi Continues Solid Start to MAC Play; Falcons Continue 10-Game Road Swing
April 15, 2021 | Softball
• The Falcons wrap up a stretch of 10 consecutive road games with six contests in a five-day span. BGSU will play a four-game weekend series at Ohio before meeting Toledo in a Tuesday doubleheader in the Glass City.
• Nikki Sorgi reached base at least twice in every BGSU game last week, hitting a team-leading .500 with an on-base percentage of .643 in the four-game series at Buffalo. Sorgi led the team with four runs scored, and reached base a total of nine times, walking three times and being hit by a pitch in addition to her five hits. She had at least one hit in each of the four games, and is now hitting .381 in the Falcons' 16 MAC games.
• Madi McCoy leads the Falcons with a .420 batting average in MAC games, and McCoy and Greta L'Esperance each are batting .351 overall. McCoy leads the Falcons with 10 doubles and 22 RBI, while L'Esperance paces the club with 22 runs scored, 39 hits and 17 stolen bases. McCoy (.420), Sorgi (.381), Sammy Dees (.354) and L'Esperance (.327) all are hitting over .300 in conference action.
• The Falcons and Ohio are tied, 57-57, in the all-time series, but the Bobcats swept a three-game series the last time the teams met, two years ago (March 22-23, 2019) in Athens. The last two games of that series saw the 'Cats win by scores of 8-7 (eight innings) and 15-10.
• BGSU leads Toledo, 68-42, in that series, and the teams split a doubleheader at Meserve Field the last time they met (March 29, 2019). BG's last trip to Scott Park, in April of 2018, saw the Rockets emerge victorious.
