Robin earns honorable mention after the duo helped BGSU clinch a MAC Championship
Bowling Green State University men's soccer standout Logan Kowalczyk has earned his second honor in the last 24 hours. Kowalczyk has been named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week.
Achille Robin earned honorable mention on this week's TDS Team of the Week.
On Monday afternoon (April 19), Kowalczyk was named a Mid-American Conference Player of the Week.
Kowalczyk, a native of Pinckney, Mich. (Gahanna [Ohio] Lincoln), had a goals-against average of just 0.43 in two matches last week, helping the Falcons clinch the MAC championship with a win and a tie. He allowed just one goal in nearly 209 minutes of action as BGSU battled West Virginia to a 0-0 draw before beating Northern Illinois, 2-1 in overtime.
Kowalczyk made a career-high six saves vs. WVU on Wednesday (April 14), then tied that mark with six more stops vs. the Huskies on Sunday afternoon (April 18).
On the season, Kowalczyk now has a GAA of 0.70. In MAC matches, he went 5-2-1 with a GAA of just 0.59, a saves percentage of .808 and five shutouts, the program's highest total in conference play since 1998.
Robin, who hails from Les Sables d'Olonne, France, helped Kowalczyk and the back line limit last week's opponents to a single goal between them, and he also stepped up and converted the winning penalty kick in overtime of the NIU game to clinch the MAC title and spark a wild celebration on the Cochrane Stadium pitch. It was the second 'walk-off' PK of Robin's Falcon career.
Kowalczyk, Robin and the Falcons (7-4-1, 5-2-1 MAC) will face Monmouth in NCAA Championships first-round action on Thursday, April 29, in Greensboro, N.C. BGSU is returning to the NCAA Championships for the first time since 1997, and the MAC crown is BG's first outright conference regular-season title since 1996.
