Kayla Davis Wins MAC Women's Golfer Of The Week
September 23, 2021 | Women's Golf
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced Bowling Green junior Kayla Davis as this week's MAC Women's Golfer of the Week on Thursday afternoon (Sept. 23). The recognition comes after Davis placed first at the Cardinal Classic earlier this week, marking her first collegiate victory. Davis is the first Falcon to receive the weekly award since Jessica Madry during the 2018-19 season.
Davis utilized career-best scores in the first and third rounds of the Cardinal Classic, each being a score of 73, paired with a second round score of 74 to propel her to an event score of 220, ending just +4 for the tournament. The win marked the first for a Falcon since Madry placed first at the Shirley Spork Invitational in October of 2019. With the win by Davis, the Falcons have now had a tournament winner during the fall season in three of the last five years.
Davis and the Falcons jumped four spots in the standings on the final day to finish eighth out of the 16 teams competing at the Cardinal Classic. The placing was the best so far on the young season for Bowling Green.
Up Next
The Falcons next contest will be the Bearkat Invitational in Huntsville, Texas. The event will span Sept. 28-27 and will be hosted by Sam Houston State.
