Falcons Earn Series Split With Overtime Win Against Beavers

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green Falcons (12-9-3, 9-6-1-2) earned the extra CCHA point with a 3-2 overtime victory over the Bemidji State Beavers (13-11-0, 11-5-0). Coale Norris scored the game's first two goals, but Bemidji State tallied two goals in the final regulation period to send the game to overtime. Sam Craggs scored the golden goal for the Falcons, giving them two points in the conference standings and their first home victory of 2022.

Bowling Green will have a weekend off before continuing CCHA competition with a road series against Ferris State. The Falcons and Bulldogs will face off at 7:07 p.m. ET on Friday, Jan. 28, and 6:07 p.m. ET on Saturday, Jan. 29. Both games will be held at R.L. Ewigleben Sports Complex in Big Rapids, Michigan.

Scoring Plays
- The Falcons struck first, scoring three and a half minutes into the opening period. Coale Norris gained possession of the puck after a Bemidji State turnover, then fired a shot from the right circle for an unassisted goal.
- After a scoreless second period, Norris added to the Falcon lead with a power play goal in the third. The forward knocked in a rebound from the right crease, with assists going to Evan Dougherty and Gabriel Chicoine.
- The Beavers cut the lead in half moments later, as Owen Sillinger found twine. Will Zmolek and Elias Rosen were credited with the assists.
- With less than two minutes remaining in regulation, Rosen netted a power play goal for BSU to tie the game. Lukas Sillinger and Alex Ierullo earned the assists.
- Just over two minutes into the 3-on-3 overtime, Sam Craggs gained possession of a missed Bemidji State shot. The senior skated from the red line to the crease, then spun into a backhanded shot past a sliding Beaver skater and the BSU goalie.
Falcon Facts
- Coale Norris scored his sixth and seventh goal of the season, giving him 13 points this year. The senior has 38 career goals and 76 career points.
- Norris has two multi-goal and three multi-point performances this season. He joins Alex Barber as the only Falcons to score multiple goals in multiple games this season.
- Sam Craggs scored his sixth goal of the season, giving him ten points on the year. He has 27 goals and 60 points in his career, with tonight's goal marking his first game-winning goal of the year.
- Craggs played in the 168th game of his BGSU career, passing Joe Quinn and moving into sixth place on the program's all-time list. The senior is two games behind Todd Flichel for fifth place.
- Gabriel Chicoine tallied his 14th assist of the season, the most among defensemen on the team. The senior has 15 points this year and 70 points in his collegiate career.
- Evan Dougherty played his third game of the season, tallying his first assist and point of the year. The forward has six career assists and 18 career points.
- Christian Stoever spent 62:05 in goal, making 33 saves. This was the fifth time the freshman has recorded 30 or more saves.
