Falcons Set For Midweek MACtion In Buffalo Wednesday

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball program will continue play within the Mid-American Conference on Wednesday (Jan. 5) with their second consecutive road game. The Falcons will travel to face Buffalo for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off, the second MAC game of the season for BGSU. The game between the Falcons and Bulls will be available to stream on ESPN3. The meeting between the Falcons and Bulls will be the first of two this season between the teams and the 45th all-time. Bowling Green has won the last two meetings, as well as three of the last four, to even the all-time series at 22 wins for each side. The last two meetings played in Buffalo have both gone to the Orange and Brown. Each of the last four meetings have been decided by eight points or less.Â
A Bowling Green Win Would …Â
Battling BuffaloÂ
Buffalo will enter the contest with two MAC games already played, falling to Miami (OH), 91-81, as well as Akron, 88-76. The Bulls lost their final non-conference game to Canisius, 65-64, with their last win coming on Dec. 11 in a 100-58 final against St. John Fisher College. Buffalo is led by reigning MAC Defensive Player of the Year, Josh Mballa. Mballa is currently 41st in the nation for rebounds per game (8.6) and fifth in the country for offensive rebounds per game (4.0).Â
Rebounding Among The BestÂ
The Falcons have established themselves as one of the best rebounding teams in the nation this season. BGSU currently ranks second in the country for total rebounds per game, averaging 43.9 rebounds per game, trailing only Kentucky. Success on the offensive boards has played a large role, averaging 14.8 offensive rebounds per game. That mark is fourth in the nation behind TCU, Grand Canyon and Kentucky.Â
Curtis Making An Impact
Since entering the starting lineup against Chicago State, Samari Curtis has continued to increase his impact. Over his five starts this year, Curtis is averaging 9.0 points per game along with 4.2 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.6 steals. In addition to stuffing the stat sheet, Curtis has worked his way into eighth in the MAC for 3-point field goal percentage (41.9%) and 12th in assists per game (2.91).Â
Falcons Letting It Fly From Three
Bowling Green will enter the game against Buffalo atop the MAC for 3-point field goals per game, averaging 9.5, 45th in the nation. BGSU is the only team in the conference with at least four players in the Top 25 for the MAC in 3-point field goal percentage. Samari Curtis leads the way (8th, 41.9%), followed by Trey Diggs (22nd, 36.7%), Daeqwon Plowden (23rd, 36.4%) and Myron Gordon (25th, 36.0%).Â
