Falcons Ready To Host RedHawks Saturday At Stroh

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's basketball program will play their first Mid-American Conference game at home in the Stroh Center on Saturday (Jan. 8), hosting Miami (OH). The Falcons and RedHawks are set to square off for a 5 p.m. tip, marking the third MAC game of the season for BGSU. The game between the Falcons and RedHawks will be available to stream on ESPN+. Fans can also tune in to the action via radio on WFRO Eagle 99. Live stats will be provided by bgsufalcons.com with live updates available on Twitter (@BGSUMHoops).Â
The meeting between Bowling Green and Miami will be the first of two this season between the teams and the 147th all-time. The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday (Jan. 4), but was rescheduled due to COVID protocols within the Miami program. As for the series history, Miami has won three straight, but the Falcons hold the advantage when playing in Bowling Green, being 38-32 when hosting Miami.Â

At The Game: Fan Appreciation Night
Fans can purchase tickets and parking in advance for just $1 to the game against Miami. Concessions will also be just $1 inside the Stroh Center during the game. Tickets are full price if purchased at the Stroh Center day of game.

Regardless of vaccination status, all guests, staff, and vendors will be required to wear a face covering while in the Stroh Center. Fans are not required to show proof of vaccination to enter the Stroh Center, but face coverings – covering the nose and mouth – are required for all fans as they watch the game from their assigned seat and enter, exit, and move around. Children 2 and younger will not be required to wear a face covering. If spectators are unable to wear face coverings, they are encouraged not to attend games in-person for the sake of their health and the health of others.

Matching Up Against MiamiÂ
The RedHawks will enter Saturday's contest after nine days off between contests, last playing on Dec. 29 against Buffalo, a game Miami won 91-81. The win over Buffalo is Miami's lone conference game of the season. As for non-conference, the RedHawks went 7-5, losing five of their last six non-conference games. Individually, Miami is led by junior guard Dae Dae Grant who is averaging 16.7 points per game.Â
High-Powered Offense
This season Bowling Green has produced one of the highest scoring offenses in the country. Through 13 games, the Falcons are averaging 84 points per game, the same mark as the No. 2 Duke Blue Devils. The Falcons are less than six points per game off the nation's leader, No. 8 Arizona. The other teams ahead of the Falcons are South Dakota State, Iowa, Purdue, Cornell, Gonzaga, Murray State and Kansas.
Falcons Look To Rebound
Rebounding has been an emphasis for the Falcons this season and they are doing so among the nation's best. Bowling Green is currently fifth in the nation for total rebounds per game, averaging 42.9 a contest behind only Kentucky, Arizona, Illinois and TCU. The Orange and Brown are also sixth in the country for offensive rebounds per game with a mark of 14.5 behind just TCU, Grand Canyon, UTSA, Kentucky and the College of Charleston. As for defensive rebounds, the Falcons are 41st in the nation with an average of 28.4 per game.
