Trio of Falcons Compete On First Day of ITA Regionals

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Bowling Green Falcons tennis team completed the first day of competition at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regionals. Eloise Saraty began the day with a thrilling three-set victory over Wisconsin's Ariel Johnson. After dropping the first set, 7-5, Saraty rebounded with a close 7-6 victory in set two. In the decisive third set, Saraty was dominant, winning 6-0 to advance to the second round of the qualifying draw.

In Bowling Green's next match, Lucy Furness continued the Falcon run of success with her own three-set victory. Like Saraty, Furness dropped a close first set, 6-4. She bounced back with a 6-3 victory to even the match, then continued her strong play with a 6-1 triumph in the third set, advancing to the qualifying draw's second round.

Hannah Neuman also played in the opening round, falling to Valparaiso's Moira Silva by a score of 6-2, 7-5. In the second round, Furness lost to UIC's Ana Jover in the second round, 6-2, 6-1. The final match of the day was between Saraty and Toledo's Mariona Perez, with Perez winning in three sets. Saraty maintained control of the first set, winning 6-3, but Perez was quick to recover with a 6-0 second set win. In the final set, the MAC foes battled, with Perez taking a 6-2 victory to end the day. Saraty is now 4-1 in singles play this fall.

The Falcons resume play at the ITA Regionals at 8 a.m. ET tomorrow (Oct. 21). Ioanna Tsadari will compete in the main singles draw. In doubles, two Falcon duos will compete in the main draw.
