THE FALCONS AND THE MAC TOURNAMENT RACE
• BGSU has clinched a berth in the six-team MAC Tournament. However, with just one match left in the regular season, the Falcons still could finish anywhere from the second to the sixth seed in the league tourney.
• The Falcons currently sit in third place in the 12-team standings. BGSU has 18 points, one point behind second-place Ball State (19). Just five points separate the third- through seventh-place teams in the standings.
• A win over NIU would clinch no worse than the third seed for the Falcons, who could move into second place with a Ball State tie or loss on Thursday. A loss to the Huskies could drop BGSU to fifth or sixth and send the Falcons on the road for Sunday's (Oct. 30) tourney quarterfinal round.
• The top-six teams in the final standings will qualify for the MAC Tournament, with the first- and second-place teams earning first-round byes, and the third- and fourth-seeded teams hosting quarterfinal-round matches on Sunday.

FASCINATING FALCON FACTS & FIGURES
• BGSU enters the NIU match with an overall record of 7-5-4, and the Falcons are 5-2-3 in MAC play. Last week, the Falcons topped Miami, 1-0, at Cochrane Stadium before going on the road and throttling Eastern Michigan by a 7-1 final.
• The Falcons are unbeaten (2-0-1) in the last three matches, and BG is 4-1-1 over the last three weeks. In that six-game span, BG has outscored the opponents, 16-2.
• BGSU's total of seven goals on Sunday (Oct. 23) at EMU is tied for the fourth-highest total in a match in school history, and is tied for the most the Falcons have ever scored in a MAC match.
• Seven different Falcons scored a goal in the EMU game, only the third time that has happened in BGSU history.
• BGSU went 2-3-1 in non-conference play. Those six opponents – Michigan State, Cincinnati, Tennessee, Detroit Mercy, Valparaiso and Xavier – have a combined record of 57-24-20 (.663) and have gone 35-9-10 (.741) in conference. Both MSU and Valpo have won their league regular-season titles.
• BG's three non-league losses came to teams (MSU, Tennessee and Xavier) with a combined record of 36-7-9 (.779).
• In league play, the Falcons have outscored opponents, 22-8.
• In the first 25 years of BGSU women's soccer, the Falcons had won a total of seven MAC matches by four goals or more. BG had never had more than one such victory in a season. This year, however, the Falcons have posted three MAC wins by four or more goals, all in the month of October.
• Senior Kennedy White leads the Falcons with 12 goals and 25 points this fall. White, who had 10 goals as a freshman in 2019, is just the third player in BGSU history with multiple seasons of double-digit goals.
• The total of 12 goals ties White for third on the BGSU single-season list.
• White had a hat trick in the Falcons' win at Akron (Oct. 6), and is now tied for second in school history with nine career game-winning goals. She has four of BGSU's seven winners this season.
White has nine goals in BGSU's 10 MAC matches. She leads the MAC in both goals and points, both overall and in conference games.
• With 27 career goals, White has moved into a tie for fourth place on that BGSU career list. And, with 62 career points, White is eighth on that school career chart.
• Maya Dean and Brynn Gardner are tied for second on the team in scoring, as both players have 14 points on four goals and six assists. Gardner had the first goal of Sunday's win at EMU.
• Maya Dean was named the MAC Offensive Player of the Week Tuesday (Oct. 25), earning that honor for the second time in three weeks. She scored the GWG vs. Miami and had a goal and an assist at Eastern.
• Lacee Bethea, Abby Koly and Mackenzie Reuber all have five points this season, while Alaina Uncapher has four.
• Senior Lili Berg has started all 16 matches in goal, and has 66 saves and a 0.93 goals-against average. Berg has been part of 23 shutouts in 45 career starts with the Falcons.
• Berg has allowed just one goal over her last six games.
• A total of 15 different players have started at least one match for the Falcons this season. Six Falcons – Berg, Dean, Reuber, White, Katie Cox and Lexi Czerwien – have started all 16 matches to date.
• Entering the NIU match, Reuber has appeared in a total of 89 matches as a Falcon, ranking second on the BGSU career list for matches played. If she takes the field at any point in DeKalb on Thursday, Reuber will tie Julie Trundle (90 matches played from 2002-05) for first place on that list.
• A total of 23 players have seen action for the Falcons this fall, with no fewer than 18 of them having played in at least 10 matches to date.
• Entering the NIU match, the Falcons have an overall record of 24-13-8 since Walker took the helm, and BGSU is 21-5-4 against MAC teams in that time. Since the beginning of the 2018 campaign, BGSU is 52-24-14 overall, 38-7-4 in MAC regular-season action and 45-7-6 in all games vs. league opposition.
THE OPPONENT
• Northern Illinois has an overall record of 6-7-4, and the Huskies are 3-5-2 in the MAC. Last week, Northern defeated Eastern Michigan, 2-0, before falling at Miami by a 1-0 final. Claudia Muessig leads the Huskies with four goals and 10 points, while Amber Best has three goals and eight points. Deighton Wamer has made 10 starts and Sadie McGill seven in goal. McGill has 47 saves and a 1.24 GAA, while Wamer has 32 stops and a GAA of 1.33. THE SERIES
• BGSU and Northern Illinois are tied, 11-11-3, in the all-time series. NIU captured a 2-1 decision in last year's meeting at Cochrane Stadium (Sept. 26, 2021), snapping a four-match BG series winning streak. The last meeting in DeKalb saw the Falcons pick up a 7-0 victory (Oct. 24, 2019). BGSU is 5-7-1 in home games, 6-3-2 in road meetings and 0-1-0 in neutral-site matchups with NIU through the years.
UP NEXT
• Following the NIU match, BGSU will prepare for the MAC Tournament. The date, site and opponent for the Falcons' league tourney opener will be determined by the results of Thursday's matches around the conference.
• The MAC Tournament begins with a pair of quarterfinal-round matchups on Sunday, Oct. 30. The regular-season champion then will host the league tourney semifinals (Thursday, Nov. 3) and the championship match (Sunday, Nov. 6).
