FIRST TOUCH
• The Bowling Green State University women's soccer team has another busy week on tap as the Mid-American Conference schedule rolls on. Head coach Jimmy Walker and the Falcons, the four-time defending MAC champions, hit the road to face the University of Akron on Thursday night (Oct. 6). First touch is set for 7:00 p.m. at FirstEnergy Stadium in the Rubber City.
• Then, the Orange and Brown will return home to entertain the preseason league favorite, Ohio University. That contest begins at 1:00 p.m. at Cochrane Stadium, and admission is free.

• Thursday's Akron match will be streamed via ESPN+, while Sunday's Ohio contest will be streamed on YouTube, and produced by WBGU-TV. Live stats, as well as periodic Twitter updates (@BGSUwsoc), will be available for both matches.

FASCINATING FALCON FACTS & FIGURES
• BGSU enters the Akron match with an overall record of 3-4-3, and the Falcons are 1-1-2 in MAC play. BG split a pair of 2-0 decisions last week, winning at Central Michigan on Thursday before falling to Ball State at home three days later.
• Senior Kennedy White scored both goals in the win at CMU, giving her five goals in a three-game span.
• White's game-winning goal at CMU was the eighth of her career. She is now tied for fourth on that BGSU career list. White is also ranked among the top 10 in BGSU history in career goals and points.
• This season, White leads the Falcons with eight goals and 16 points. White has five goals in BGSU's four MAC matches. She leads the MAC in both goals and points in conference games, and is tied for the lead in both categories in all matches.
• Freshman Brynn Gardner is second on the team in scoring, with eight points on two goals and a team-leading four assists. Gardner had a goal and an assist against Toledo, and added assists at both WMU and CMU.
• Maya Dean had her first career multiple-assist match with the primary helper on both goals at CMU. Dean, Lacee Bethea and Alaina Uncapher each have two assists this fall.
• Senior Lili Berg has started all 10 matches in goal this season, and has 41 saves and a 1.40 goals-against average. She has been part of 19 shutouts in 39 career starts with the Falcons.
• A total of 15 different players have started at least one match for the Falcons this season. Six Falcons – Berg, Dean, White, Katie Cox, Lexi Czerwien, Mackenzie Reuber – have started all 10 matches to date.
• A total of 23 players have seen action for the Falcons this fall, with no fewer than 20 of them having played in at least six of the 10 matches to date.
• Entering the Akron match, the Falcons have an overall record of 20-12-7 since Walker took the helm, and BGSU is 17-4-3 against MAC teams in that time. Since the beginning of the 2018 campaign, BGSU is 48-23-13 overall, 34-6-3 in MAC regular-season action and 41-6-5 in all games vs. league opposition.

UA is coming off of a pair of narrow losses last week, falling by scores of 3-2 against Eastern Michigan and 2-1 at Miami. Emma King leads the Zips with six points, including two goals and two assists. Penelope Cuirinier has made six starts in goal and has 32 saves, one shutout and a 1.83 goals-against average. Maxima Carlitz has started three contests and has a 2.00 GAA and 12 saves. A total of 16 players, including eight who started 10 or more games last year, returned for first-year head coach Jen Simonetti. The Zips finished with records of 3-15-1 overall and 1-9-1 in the MAC last fall.
• Ohio is 6-4-1 overall and 2-2-0 in the MAC, heading into a Thursday home match vs. Northern Illinois. The Bobcats have won two-straight matches, downing Miami (2-0) and EMU (3-2) last week. Abby Townsend has team-high totals of six assists and 14 points, while Regan Berg has nine points. Both players have four goals on the season, and Berg scored all three goals in the win at EMU on Sunday. Celeste Sioma has started nine matches in goal and has two shutouts, 25 saves and a 1.08 GAA. Sam Wexell started both the MU and EMU contests, and has 25 saves, one shutout and a 1.50 GAA this fall. Last year, Aaron Rodgers was named MAC Coach of the Year as the Bobcats finished with records of 11-5-3 overall and 7-1-3 within the conference.
THE SERIES
• BGSU leads Akron, 14-6-1, in the all-time series, and the Falcons have won the last three meetings. Last season, the Orange and Brown picked up a 3-0 road win over the Zips (Oct. 24, 2021). Thursday's match will mark the teams' third-straight meeting in Akron. UA's last series win was a 1-0 decision four years ago (Oct. 18, 2018). That was BGSU's lone loss to a MAC team that season, as the Falcons went 10-1-0 in league regular-season play that fall. BGSU is 7-2-1 in home games and 7-4-0 in road meetings with UA through the years.
• The Falcons trail Ohio, 12-9-6, in that series, but BGSU is unbeaten (6-0-2) in the last eight meetings with the Bobcats. Last season, the teams played to a scoreless draw at Cochrane Stadium (Sept. 30, 2021). BGSU has scored just 0.89 goals per game against Ohio, the Falcons' lowest average vs. any MAC opponent. BGSU is 7-5-3 at home and 2-7-3 on the road vs. the 'Cats.
