Falcons Conclude Day One of the Zips Classic

AKRON, Ohio – The Bowling Green State swimming and diving team opened their 2022-23 season today at the Akron Zips Classic.
The Falcons started the season on a high note. After Day one of competition the Falcons are currently in second place with a team score of 241.
The Orange and Brown could not have asked for a better start to the day with second, third, and fourth place finishes in the 1-Meter Dive. Led by Grace Ellis with a 2nd place score of 229.40 the group earned a total of 68 points leading the way over all the competition.
The swimmers then continued the hot start in the 400 Medley Relay with two teams finishing in the top five in the event with times of 3:48.84 and 3:51.34. These weren't the only Falcon relay teams to finish in the top five thanks to a fourth-place finish in the 800 Freestyle to end the night.
Individually the Falcons best finish occurred in the 50 Freestyle with a 5th place finish by Riley McNichols with a time of 23.92. McNichols was soon followed by Falcon freshman Emily McNicol with a time of 23.94. Additionally, the Falcons added a top ten finish in the 500 Freestyle with a strong performance by Livia Castro who swam to 7th place and a time of 5:04.81.
The Falcons look to keep their momentum and finish up the Zips Classic tomorrow with another great performance.

Rickey's Reactions
"I am very pleased with how day one went. We had divers finish second, third and fourth to start the day. As far as swimming a lot of the freshman stepped up and swam well in their first meets. We are not too far off from our best times, and we just started competition. I am really looking forward to tomorrow and the rest of the season.
