Dean, Reuber Join White on All-MAC First Team; Brynn Gardner Named to All-Freshman Team
CLEVELAND, Ohio (BGSU Strategic Communications) – Bowling Green State University women's soccer standout Kennedy White has been named the Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Year. The All-MAC Team and specialty-award winners were announced on Tuesday morning (Nov. 1) by the league office.
Maya Dean and Mackenzie Reuber joined White on the All-MAC First Team, while Brynn Gardner was named to the MAC's All-Freshman Team.
BGSU led the league with three first-team selections.
White is the fifth Falcon in the last six seasons to be named MAC Offensive Player of the Year. She joins Skylar Fleak (2017), Erica Hubert (2018), Chelsee Washington (2019) and Madi Wolfbauer (2021) on that list.
White has been named to the All-MAC Team for the second time in her BGSU career, having earned all-conference second-team honors as a freshman in 2019. Both Dean and Reuber have been named to the All-MAC Team for the first time in their respective careers.
White, a native of Canton, Mich. (Plymouth), leads the Falcons with 12 goals and 26 points this season to date. She is just the third player in BGSU history with multiple seasons of double-digit goals. White had a hat trick in the Falcons' win at Akron (Oct. 6), and has had three two-goal games this season. White leads the MAC in both goals and points, and is second in game-winning goals (four). In MAC games only, she had nine goals and 20 points to again pace the entire conference in both categories, and she tied for second with a pair of GWG in MAC matches. White has a career total of nine GWG to rank second in school history. She has 27 career goals, tying for fourth in BGSU annals, and she is eighth in career points, with 63.
Dean, who hails from Traverse City, Mich. (West), has started all 18 matches this season, and has 16 points on five goals and six assists. Dean, who was named MAC Offensive Player of the Week twice this season, has scored all five of her goals over the last eight matches, and had the GWG vs. both Ohio and Miami. She had a four-point afternoon in the win over the Bobcats, with a pair of assists, and she also had two assists in BG's win at Central Michigan. Dean scored 14 points in MAC play, and added two more points on a goal in Sunday's MAC Tournament quarterfinal-round win. Dean is currently is tied for sixth in the MAC in assists and ranked 10th in points. In MAC games only, she tied for second in GWG (two), and was tied for third in assists (six) and deadlocked for sixth in points.
Reuber, a native of Macomb, Mich. (Macomb Lutheran North), has started all 18 contests this season to date, and has five points on a goal and three assists. Reuber has helped the Falcons record eight shutouts on the season, including five in MAC play and one more in the league tourney quarterfinals. She scored a spectacular goal at Eastern Michigan, and has had assists in wins over Valparaiso, Ohio and Miami. Reuber has played in 91 career matches, setting a new school record in that category. She has helped the Falcons record 39 shutouts during her BGSU tenure, and she has career totals of 16 points on three goals and 10 assists. Six of those 10 assists have come on game-winning goals.
Gardner, from Whitehouse, Ohio (Anthony Wayne), has played in all 18 matches, starting 14. In her first season with the Falcons, she is second on the team with 17 points, and leads the Falcons with seven assists. Gardner is tied for second on the team with five goals. She had an assist in five of the first six conference contests, and scored the game-winning goal last Thursday (Oct. 27) at Northern Illinois. That goal, with 1:21 left in the match, came after she had the lone assist on the tying goal just 51 seconds earlier. Gardner is tied for fourth in the MAC in assists and ranks ninth in the league in points. In MAC matches only, she is tied for third in assists (six) and was deadlocked for sixth in points (14).
BGSU has an overall record of 9-5-4, and the Falcons went 6-2-3 in MAC play to finish third in the 12-team conference. The Falcons, the number-three seed for the MAC Tournament, defeated sixth-seeded Western Michigan, 2-0, in Sunday's (Oct. 30) quarterfinal round.
The Falcons meet second-seeded Ball State on Thursday (Nov. 3), in a MAC Tournament semifinal-round match that will begin at 7:30 p.m. at UB Stadium in Buffalo, N.Y.
The BGSU-BSUÂ survivor will advance to Sunday's (Nov. 6) league tourney championship match, which will begin at 1:00 p.m. at UB Stadium. The complete list of all-conference team members and specialty-award winners can be found below...
