Falcons Look to Continue Strong Start

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University swimming and diving team will be competing in Northwest Ohio for the second straight weekend.
First up for the Falcons is the Thundering Herd of Marshall on Friday at 5:30 p.m. Then the Falcons head up I-75 to Toledo for a tri-meet with both Toledo and Marshall.
Senior Night
The Falcons will be recognizing seven seniors Friday night against Marshall. The senior swimmers are Anais Constantinides, Taylor Harris, Inbar Mark, Julianna Petrak, and Amber Saxon. The seniors diver are Julia Januszewska and Cassidy Daugherty.
Featured Falcons
Bowling Green is coming off of a two-win performance at home last weekend. The first came against Butler and the second against MAC foe Ball State. Against Butler Livia Castro swam to a first-place finish in both the 200 Freestyle and the 500 Freestyle with times of 1:55.88 and 5:11.60. Castro continued her strong swimming Saturday with a second-place finish in the 1000 Freestyle and a third-place finish in the 500 Freestyle.
Freshman Emily McNicol enjoyed her first two home meets of her collegiate career swimming to victories in three events. McNicol also contributed to Falcon relay teams swimming a leg in three winning teams over the course of the weekend. Friday night saw McNicol win the 100 Backstroke with a time of 57.69. Saturday's meet found more of the same. McNicol won the 100 Backstroke again and the 100 Freestyle with times of 56.65 and 52.62.
The divers took care of business as well. In the first event on Saturday Rayah Blood won her second 3-Meter Dive of the season with a score of 265.73. Then later Grace Ellis earned her own event win in the 1-Meter Dive with a score of 258.45.
Preview of Opponents
Marshall will be coming to Bowling Green to participate in their first head-to-head meet of the season. So far, the Thundering Herd has competed only once at the West Virginia Games where they finished second.
Saturday brings the tri-meet where the Falcons will face Marshall for the second straight day and I-75 foe Toledo. The Rockets opened up the season with two losses against MAC counterpart Eastern Michigan and Oakland University.
