Falcon Tennis Announces Spring Schedule

Bowling Green to play 22 matches in 2023, including eight at home
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University tennis program has announced the schedule for the spring season. The Falcons are slated to play 22 matches this season, including 10 Mid-American Conference contests. Eight of the 22 matches will be hosted by Bowling Green. Outdoor matches will be held at Keefe Courts on the BGSU campus. Indoor matches will be held at the Perrysburg Tennis Center. Admission is free for all matches.

The Falcons start the season on Jan. 20 with a 7 p.m. match against Holy Cross. They follow that with a Jan. 21 match against UIC. They remain on the road the next weekend, playing a pair of matches in Indianapolis. The Falcons face Indianapolis at 3 p.m. on Jan. 27, then Butler at 11 a.m. on Jan. 28.

BGSU returns home to begin February, hosting Cleveland State at 1 p.m. on Feb. 3. They travel to East Lansing on Feb. 5 for a 2 p.m. match against Michigan State. After a weekend off, the Orange and Brown host Youngstown State for a 1 p.m. match on Feb. 17. On Feb. 25, BGSU makes the trip to south for a 3 p.m. matchup with Northern Kentucky. On March 3, the Falcons play their final home non-conference match, hosting Wayne State at 1 p.m.

Bowling Green will compete in Florida twice over spring break, beginning with a March 6 match against Ave Maria. The next day, the Falcons play an 8 a.m. match against Providence. The non-conference slate concludes on March 18 with a road match against Oakland.

The MAC schedule starts with two matches, both starting at 1 p.m. The Falcons welcome Northern Illinois on March 19, then Miami (OH) on March 24. BGSU plays the next three matches on the road, all at 1 p.m. The trek starts on March 26 in Eastern Michigan, then continues on March 31 against Miami (OH). On April 2, the Falcons head up I-75 for a battle with Toledo.

On April 7, Bowling Green returns home for a 1 p.m. match with Buffalo. They head back on the road on April 14 for a match against Ball State, then continue with an April 16 rematch with Buffalo, this time hosted by the Bulls. The regular season concludes with a pair of home matches, the first being against Western Michigan on April 21. The Falcons end the year with the Battle of I-75, hosting Toledo on April 23.

Maru Poppe won the 'D' Flight at the Spartan Invite, while Ioanna Tsadari qualified for the Singles Main Draw Round of 32 at ITA Midwest Regionals. Senior transfer Eloise Saraty compiled an 8-4 overall record in the fall. Joining the Falcons for the spring season is Leticia Fonseca, a six-time national champion in Brazil.
