Nine Falcons Earn 2022 Academic All-MAC Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Nine Bowling Green State University cross country student-athletes were named to the 2022 Academic All-MAC Team, as announced by the Mid-American Conference office on Wednesday afternoon (Dec. 21). The women's team ranks fourth in the conference with six honorees while three men's cross country student athletes also received the award. Five of Bowling Green's nine honorees currently boast a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Bowling Green's list of honorees includes Raegan Burkey, Kristin Groppe, Elise Johnson, Kailee Perry, Katerina Shuble, and Emma Steingass on the women's side, as well as Christian Gagliardi, Charlie Nowinski, and Omar Vazquez on the men's side.

Shuble (4), Johnson (3), Perry (3), Groppe (2), Gagliardi (2), and Vazquez (2) have all received the honor multiple times, while sophomores Burkey, Steingass, and Nowinski all earned the award in their first year of eligibility.Â

To qualify for Academic All-MAC honors, a student-athlete must excel in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and transfer students in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
