Falcons Land In Lone Star State For HBU Husky Invitational

SUGAR LAND, Texas – The Bowling Green State University women's golf team will take part in the HBU Husky Invitational this week, hosted by Houston Baptist. The event will span two days, beginning on Monday (March 14) and concluding Tuesday (March 15) with a total of three rounds to be played. The field of 15 teams will begin play with a 9:30 a.m. EST shotgun start each day at the Riverbend Country Club in Sugar Land, Texas. The course will span 6,084 yards with a par 72. This will mark Bowling Green's first time playing at the event.

The Falcons will be one of 15 teams competing in the HBU Husky Invitational this weekend. The Falcons will be the lone participant from the Mid-American Conference. The rest of the field will include host Houston Baptist as well as Austin Peay, North Dakota, Omaha, Sam Houston, South Dakota, Tarleton, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, USC Upstate, UTEP, UT Arlington, UT Rio Grande Valley and Western Illinois.

Emily Pantig-Nystrom

This will be the first event of the spring and second of the year for Pantig-Nystrom. She previously competed in the Redbird Invitational, posting a career-best round of 74 in the final round of the event.

Kayla Davis

Davis placed second on the BGSU roster at the Rio Verde Invitational the last time out. Davis returned to the clubhouse after both the second and third rounds with scores of 76.

Nichole Cox

Cox has consistently performed well for the Falcons so far this season, having just four rounds above 80 over the course of the entire 2021-22 season.

Aly Kovach

Kovach will be competing in her third event of the spring after playing at the Rio Verde Invitational and the Mid-American Match Play Challenge. Her best round of the season came in the fall at the Shirley Spork EMU Invitational, posting a score of 75 in the first round.

Mallory Swartz

Swartz returns to the lineup for the Falcons, last playing at the Mid-American Match Play Challenge. Swartz's best outing of the season came at the Cardinal Classic in the fall, logging a three-round total of 231, staying below 78 for each round.

Falcon Facts

This will mark a new event for all members of the Bowling Green roster, being BGSU's first time competing in the HBU Husky Invitational.
The Falcons last competed in the Rio Verde Invitational and will have two events remaining on the schedule after the HBU Husky Invitational before the MAC Championships. One of those will include the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational, beginning on April 9.
