Falcons Drop Final Non-Conference Match On Friday

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green Falcons tennis team closed the non-conference portion of the season on Friday (March 18) with a 4-3 loss to Oakland. The Falcons, competing with only five players, split the doubles matches, with Selina Karg and Laura Maia Silveira claiming a victory at the No. 1 spot. The Golden Grizzlies earned the doubles point with a win in the No. 2 spot and default victory in No. 3.

The singles matches were even, as each team earned three points. Selina Karg and Ioanna Tsadari won in the first and second spots, with Maru Poppe adding a victory in the No. 4 spot. Oakland won the No. 6 point automatically, then added a victory in No. 5. Nirva Patel outlasted Annika Vetter in the No. 3 match, securing the clinching point for the visitors.

Karg and Silveira's doubles win marked their first of the spring season and fifth in their careers. Tsadari and Karg's singles victories marked the 50th career combined win for each player. The loss drops the Falcons to 3-8 on the season, with MAC play beginning on Sunday, March 20.
