Plowden Named To MAC All-Defensive Team, All-MAC Third Team
March 09, 2022 | Men's Basketball
CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference announced on Wednesday morning (March 9) the men's basketball awards for the 2021-22 season. Among those named was Bowling Green senior Daeqwon Plowden, receiving All-MAC Third Team and All-Defensive Team honors from the conference. This marks Plowden's third consecutive All-MAC recognition, being Second Team in 2019-20 and Third Team in 2020-21. This is his first time being named to the All-Defensive Team.Â
Plowden put together an impressive season for the Falcons on the basketball court. Returning for his fifth year in the Orange and Brown, Plowden set the all-time program record for games played. Plowden never missed a game for BGSU over his five years, totaling 154 games to break the previous record, held by former teammate Demajeo Wiggins, by 25 games.Â
Additionally, Plowden paced the Falcons in points with an average of 15.7 per game (488 total) as well as rebounds with 6.8 per game (212). Those marks pushed Plowden to eighth all-time for career points in program history (1,618) and fourth in career rebounds (935). Over the course of the season, Plowden logged three double-doubles and reached double-digit points in 28 of BGSU's 31 games.
On the defensive end of the court, Plowden logged a career-best 37 blocks this season, bringing his career total to 126, good for fourth all-time. He also tallied 28 steals to be at the top of the team stat sheet at the end of the season while bringing down a team-best 136 defensive rebounds.Â
